It's beginning to look like we'll be moving forward with Kansas.  One of the managers just emailed me back this morning clarifying  some of my expertise and confirming I am able and willing to relocate.  I take that as good news, because he could have just flat out said no.  We shall see.

EDIT:  I have a phone interview at 2:00 today!

Godspeed.

The interview is over and I feel great!  He was very impressed with my qualities and my expertise.  He is forwarding me to the hiring manager who should request a phone interview.  After that, will come a face to face interview.  I would be starting in September.  We talked pay and benefits which is a good sign.

You should really try to get down to 190 at the very least then, purely for health reasons. You'd still be pretty plump.

Really, my ideal weight would be around 180.  I realize that unless i make a major lifestyle change, it's going to be near impossible to get down under 200.  It's not impossible, but near impossible.  I figure 205-210 is a heck of a lot better than 285 where I started all this.  I'll still be borderline obese, but I'll be a lot healthier being only 25-30 pounds overweight instead of 100+ pounds.

A major lifestyle change is precisely what you need.

I'm between 6'2" and 6'3" and I weigh around 175-190. Your target weight should be at least in that range, Bushie.

Guys you have to crawl before you can walk, walk before you can run...etc.

Bushie, keep chipping away at it and keep making new goals once you've completed the small ones. You've already done a good job losing some weight. However, from your posts I'd recommend that you really should start exercising more and eat better than you do. You'll feel miles better and have more energy in every facet of life.  I personally got huge so I know it can be hard.  While, Ive managed to lose a lot and I still want to keep going. View it that you are rewarding yourself with exercise and good food.   And don't make some spiritual excuse: A fitter BuskOk will be able to that much more efficiently serve the lord Smiley.

Thanks, Patrick.  I am definitely pressing on toward my weight loss goal.  My goal is just to be healthier than I am now.  My first goal is working down to the goal that Mikado set - 245.  We'll set a new goal after I meet that.  To use an Olympic analogy, there's no sense in looking at the tenth hurdle when the first hurdle is approaching.

A lady would make the time between job searches more pleasant, no?

Also, would create even more strain on the wallet.  Ladies are expensive!

lol opebo they're not "abnormal". That's a normal weight. I'm 6'2" and weigh 145 lbs. Perhaps you could consider me "abnormal" in that sense but certainly not adult men weighing 165-190.

145lbs and you're 6 2? Jesus you must be thin as a rail, TJ! I weigh about the same and I'm only 5' 9" or 5' 10". You need to hit the weights for the ladies just like BushKE!

They are certainly 'abnormal' in the sense of being unusual, particularly Torie.  Nathan is perhaps closer to normal, but still, the point is they are setting the bar far, far to high for BushOK.  Tories BMI is around 22, which is in the 10th percentile for his age group, and the other guy is having a BMI of around 23, in the 25th percentile for his age group.

Encouraging a very over weight man to shoot for that which is statistically unusual is not advisable.  My BMI of around 26-27 is a much more realistic target, and roughly average for my age group.

Well, my mother is home from the hospital after 9 nights in the hospital for colitis.  She had her first meal in 10 days this evening with roast and mashed potatoes.

On the job front, In addition to the Kansas position, I've got another very strong position in Oklahoma City that is brewing, with the Federal Aviation Administration.  Both pay really well, the one in Kansas paying between $35,000-$40,000 and the one in Oklahoma City paying $14.91/hr + $3.50/hr health insurance allowance.  I've got a live interview with the Oklahoma City position this Thursday morning at 8:30 am with an answer by Friday.  I should have a call with a possible phone or live interview with the Kansas position by tomorrow.  I'm really torn on which one to accept should be they both offer me a position.

The Federal Aviation Commission? Someone find that opebo quote from earlier in the thread about grabbing hold of government jobs and never letting go.

It is the FAA along side the Chickasaw Indian Nation.

I remember that comment you speak of.  That is one of my major considerations and a huge plus in its favor.  Plus, I should have an answer by the end of the week.  There are 2 positions and they are interviewing 4 candidates including myself.  That's a 50/50 chance.

To be honest, though, my heart is still in Kansas and if given the choice, I would still probably choose Kansas.  I need to get out of Oklahoma.  I need to get out from under my parents' shadow and out from under their thumb.  I love them to death, but I'm almost 31 years old and it's time to start living for Jeff Brown.
