I'm going with Obama mainly due to the new platform the GOP has adopted.  Two things I disagree with on the platform.  Abortion is sometimes needed in cases where the mother's life is in danger, rape, and incest.  I also am all for Civil Unions and am not opposed to gay marriage.

I had the FAA interview this morning and they told me I should hear something by next week.  However, when I got home around noon, I already had an email saying thanks, but no thanks.  So, that leaves Kansas left on the table.  I can put all my eggs (for now) in the Kansas basket and won't have a tough decision to make, because the FAA job would have paid $18.41/hr.  I've got the last phone interview with Kansas tomorrow morning at 10:00.

Bushie, if anything, you should go with Obama because Romney and his ilk want to economically exterminate you.

Not anymore, because the government job didn't want me - with that thanks, but no thanks email just 3 hours after I got out of the interview.

Well, folks, I had the phone interview with Kansas this morning.  I feel pretty confident about it.  It may be a little bit of time before I know anything, but I talked to the person that interviewed me on Monday and he says I have a better than average chance because I am the only one that he sent to the hiring manager who has the specific software experience.  The others have more of a hardware background and this is a software-based position.  Now, we just wait and see.

Thanks, Thomas.  This weekend and much of next week while I watch the GOP Convention, I'm going to be making preparations to move up to Manhattan.  I doubt I will be up there by September 1 like I had thought, instead, it's looking more like September 8 or 15.

Although I don't know anything about their hiring process at the moment, take your planning one step at a time. Plan for the on-site interview and don't get too overly distracted by moving plans. You've set a goal of getting this job ... that's your "big picture," so to speak. But if you get too invested in planning to execute the final stage in the plan, you'll overlook steps in between.

I wont get distracted.  I just want to be ready to go when he says go.

I actually feel pretty good about this position in Kansas.  I really think I've got an excellent chance.  The old rule that "it's who you know" could very well come into play thanks to J-Mann.  Not to mention, I'm confident in my abilities and strengths.  I look forward to a live interview.  I should hear something either this coming week or the next week.  I will have my cell phone awake and ready for their call Monday Morning at 7:00 am.

Just thinking that my possible trip to The Little Apple could be quite painful if Isaac decides to shut down the refineries in the Gulf.  Thankfully, I probably won't go up there until late this week or sometime next week, so it won't be quite as painful as if I were going the middle of this week.

It's people who have that stupid irrational fear that this storm is going to shut everything down is the reason I don't have much gas in my car. Why, you ask? Because I'm not waiting an hour for gas.

This isn't another Katrina. It will be bad and you should take shelter, but as far as I know it isn't a category 5 and it won't wreck havoc 500 miles inland. It's silly they even cancelled the RNC for a few high waves.

I disagree with that one - at the point they cancelled it, there was much less certainty in the track of the storm.

Things have changed dramatically just over the last 5 hours. First of all, the opportunity in Kansas busted.  That wasn’t the end of it, though.  I got a call from a firm in, guess…, Utah, Ogden, Utah.  I’ve got a job up there as a junior web developer if I want it starting Monday, September 10, 2012.  I have talked it over with my parents, and I will be on my way to Utah on Monday, September 3, 2012.  I will be staying in an extended stay hotel for probably the first two months until I get a real good feel for how I will like the job.  This is my opportunity, and I’m taking it!!  This application process started earlier in August even while Xerox was playing its game with me, but I just kept it under my hat for a while as Kansas was my first choice.

I'm pretty sure Katrina was only a Category 3 when it actually made landfall.

Are you going to tell us why the Manhattan "solution" went bust?  So many job offers made and then withdrawn. Odd that.

Unless I'm missing something, he never said there was an offer on the Manhattan job.  Just that he'd done an interview with them, and was awaiting their decision.

"Bust" is a poor description. Jeff was going through an interview gauntlet, and we have a number of steps in all of our hiring process. Nothing was ever a guarantee with my company and offers are never made until the hiring managers are positive that they want to move forward. I'll let him share details about his experience if he wishes, but I hope that speaking with me and my HR specialist were positive regardless of the outcome on the hiring front. If nothing else, Jeff got some decent coaching on his resume, interview skills and strengths that he may want to focus on in future employment.

So you lied again?  You said you were putting all of your eggs in one basket (being Kansas).  Come on, man...

It was; however, it's possible that Category 4 winds impacted Louisiana right before it weakened to a Category 3.  Even if this hits as a Category 1 though, you're going to see a lot of flooding in the city.
