I begin my career at Xerox this afternoon from 15:30-00:00.  I will leave here at 14:00 so I can get gas in the car and then be to work by 14:45.  I have to be there by 15:15 today, so 30 minutes earlier than that is perfect.  I will, of course, post an update on Day 1 sometime early Tuesday morning after I get home.

Technically, Kenya uses both civilian and military time, I just happen to prefer military time.

I'm in a training phase that technically will last 90 days through September.  The classroom training will be over on Friday, 6 July 2012, and I'll be on the phones after that, but the "training/probationary" time lasts through September.

It's kinda funny... when I see 24 hour time, I'm used to it being in UTC time, so I start converting it automatically.  But then I realize Bushie isn't talking UTC time, he's just using 24 hour CDT.

I've completed 4 days at Xerox and I am having a blast.  I have a great group of coworkers who are very knowledgeable and very courteous and fun-loving.  I have a great trainer who is on loan from the Portland, Oregon location.  He is training us and will go back to Oregon after training is over on Saturday morning, 7 July 2012.  The reason he is here, is because as I mentioned before Apple is new at the Xerox in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.  We are the 4th Apple Care site, which I am a part of.  The other three are Portland, Oregon; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Lexington, Kentucky.  There are other Apple call centers, but they are Tier 2, CPU (Mac computers), Sales, etc.  We are just Tier 1 for the iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch).

Later on tonight (Friday) at 22:30, I will have my first of three exams that I must pass to be able to move to the floor.  I'm not at all concerned about the first one, which is all we're focusing on for the moment.  It is only 22 questions and I will have 2 hours to do it.  I have to score 80% to pass the test, but my trainer says he took it himself and did not look anything up and scored 100% and said there are no trick questions and nothing is worded funny, which makes me feel better.
