Saw something on Facebook about Cruz leading 49% to 40%. Could be an internal though.

It is an internal. Remember that Dewhurst released an "internal" showing that he'd win a majority in Round 1. Didn't work out that way. Cruz should have a GOTV advantage but who knows, they could be tied or Dewhurst could be way ahead. Apparently Leppert isn't so happy about Dewhurst's last-minute attacks in Round 1 and therefore might sit on his hands. Whether his voters do is another story. Maybe Reg has an answer on that.

Team Dewhurst is now trolling blogs and scrubbing government websites. Obviously he's still ahead by 20, right?

Dewhurst responded with his own internal poll.

He's up 50-42.

I remember when he released an internal poll showing something like 51-16 in May. There's one more debate next week. What worries me is the early/absentee voting.

Learning a lot about Dewhurst from googling "dewhurst liberal"

DMN will be livestreaming Tuesday's debates. First hour is Cruz v. Dewhurst, second hour Sadler v. Yarbrough.

Dewhurst outraises Cruz, but $4 million of that is his own money. Subtract that and Cruz narrowly leads. Not that it matters... this is a ground war and Cruz is about to win it in a big way.

Would this be the first time a candidate with a Spanish surname defeats a candidate with an Anglo surname in a Republican primary in TX? There may have been a few exceptions where a heavily funded incumbent with the backing of the state power structure held off a Gene Kelly joke candidate, but nothing like this.

Certainly not, Quico Canseco was able to defeat Will Hurt in the TX-23 primary.

Wow, that's one of the most vicious ads I've ever seen. Dewhurst is going all-sleaze or bust.

There's a reason Dewhurst is doing this: because he's lost the ground war and is about to get swamped by double digits. Incumbents (or in this case, the quasi-incumbent) never throw the kitchen sink unless they know they're losing. And it's hard to get more kitchen-sink than this without Godwinning.

They're debating tonight at 9 PM Eastern, livestreamed on dallasnews.com (DMN). As usual Cruz- an expert debater- will wipe the floor with Dewhurst.

Probably. Dewhurst is on the wrong side of an enthusiasm gap and it will show 2 weeks from tonight.

One final debate next week. Plus Cruz swamps Dewhurst in cash.

If this ends up going for Cruz big time, I highly doubt we will see this many debates between an establishment candidate and a tea party challanger again. One maybe, two debates tops.

A better question is how many establishment candidates are as uncharismatic and uninspiring as a dead fish? Tongue
