Romney has had too big confrontations, first with Huntsman and then with Paul. He lost both handily and came off looking angry, flustered and arrogant.

Why are you all thinking Romney is doing bad? If anyone the worst one on stage it's Cain right now.

My perception: Cain is looking irrelevant and silly, and probably helping his gradual Perry-style bleeding.  Romney is making a mistake by poking at Huntsman especially, but in general keeps starting fights where he ends up looking weak.  The people he's fighting for are demonstrating his appeals (moderation, calmness, certainty, cogency) better than he is.

That said, Perry's strong performance tonight makes for a pretty weird dynamic, and might be the best thing Romney has going tonight, in terms of polling repercussions.

Perry should get a polling boost after tonight, with Gingrich possibly stagnating.

Why would Gingrich stagnate? He's had a pretty strong debate.

Because he comes off looking like Pillsbury Doughboy's evil twin, and has been an arrogant ass the entire debate.

Nah, not Paul. Too many silent moments, too many pregnant pauses.

Well, yeah, but Gingrich is always like that, and it hasn't prevented him from getting support so far.

In substance yes, in performance, no. I say Paul is in second.

I'm going to say Perry's the biggest winner just because he's been such an epic fail in every debate until now.

Perry correctly places the Monroe Doctrine in the 1820s.  Not bad!

I'd actually agree in regards to substance, but performance he comes off as angry and alone and in his positions... though I could be wrong.
