Perry may have finally gotten his drug cocktail right. He is doing very well.

Just wait; let's see if he's still focused after an hour of standing up there.

Bachmann has no idea what she is talking about.

That was actually one of the most intelligent debate responses I've heard her say all year (that's not saying much at all, though).

Did Mitt just give up on pronouncing Ahmadinejad's name mid way through trying to say it?

Yeah, that was exactly what happened there.

Why are you all thinking Romney is doing bad? If anyone the worst one on stage it's Cain right now.

Agreed.

Cain is doing as bad as expected so it's not really all that remarkable.

Romney has lost his cool several times now, which is very unusual when he's normally a commanding presence in these debates.

My perception: Cain is looking irrelevant and silly, and probably helping his gradual Perry-style bleeding.  Romney is making a mistake by poking at Huntsman especially, but in general keeps starting fights where he ends up looking weak.  The people he's fighting for are demonstrating his appeals (moderation, calmness, certainty, cogency) better than he is.

That said, Perry's strong performance tonight makes for a pretty weird dynamic, and might be the best thing Romney has going tonight, in terms of polling repercussions.

Perry should get a polling boost after tonight, with Gingrich possibly stagnating.

Why would Gingrich stagnate? He's had a pretty strong debate.

Because he comes off looking like Pillsbury Doughboy's evil twin, and has been an arrogant ass the entire debate.

Well, yeah, but Gingrich is always like that, and it hasn't prevented him from getting support so far.

Yeah, I'm really confused by what's happening right now. Is Newt supporting amnesty?

It sounds like he's allowing illegal immigrants who have been here a long time (and raised families and "go to church") to be lawful permanent residents, but not citizens. So a "soft" amnesty, of sorts, yeah.
