Politics1.com- Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R) ended weeks of speculation about his political future by announcing Thursday that he will seek re-election to a second term in 2006. Many pundits predicted that Romney -- who was said to be bored with the job and readying a likely 2008 Presidential run -- would retire. The Democrats "say: 'Oh he's not going to run again. He's not going to run again.' 'Well, I've got some news for them: I am going to run again," said Romney. However, when reporters asked Romney if he would promise to serve a full four-year term if re-elected, Romney dodged the question. "I'm taking everything just as I've described it. 'I've got no additions, no subtractions [to my statement]," he explained to the Boston Globe. Romney -- who was President of the successful 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics -- is viewed as a favorite to win another term over any of the likely Dems who are considering making the race. However, if Romney stepped aside, the Dems would instantly become heavily favored to recapture the office. Democrats looking to challenge Romney include Congressman Mike Capuano, Attorney General Tom Reilly, Secretary of State Bill Galvin and venture capitalist Chris Gabrielli.

I was hoping for a presidential run :/

But I don't think Romney will have any troubles winning re-election.

mitt will win.

massachusetts has a history of reelecting incumbents, even really bad ones (mike dukakis).

but the governorship will be the pinnacle of his political career, just like it was for his crazy-ass dad.

Good. I like Romney, I'd like to see him re-elected in 2006 and run for president in 2012....because I predict whoever is elected in 2008 will be a one-termer.

al, the republican party of georgia is a national embarrassment.

the democrats of the peach state, however, have failed to offer an alternative.  they just try to 'me too' every pathetic thing the republicans say.

He hates Romney because he wants to reinstate the death penalty and prevented Jane Swift from getting another term (although I have no clue why he loves Swift so much since she was only in office for 2 years and didn't really do anything)
