With this latest PPP poll, he is making zero progress. He is my 2nd favorite candidate and he does not deserve to be doing this poorly, but he has to face reality...

In every campaign we have seen candidates drop out the year before the election. Moseley Braun/Gilmore/Vilsack. Probably the best comparison is Tommy Thompson, who dropped out Oct07 as he wasnt doing as well as he needed to in Iowa.

I predict SAntorum drops out before Christmas and endorses Gingrich

If you're referring to the thread Snowstalker made with Ron Paul in the lead, that was a fake.

He's been in it for this long time and actually has some room in Iowa. He won't drop out before he's finished in Iowa because there is still a chance he can do well there.

Why would Santorum endorse Gingrich when he has made a career being a champion of pro-life and pro-family causes? If anything, he would probably endorse Romney if he dropped out.

He and Gingrich seem to agree on the most during hte debates...definitely on foreign policy

And why would anyone who "has made a career being a champion of pro-life and pro-family causes" endorse Mitt Romney?

Because Mitt Romney is pretty squeaky-clean in his personal life.

I doubt Santorum would trust him, though. Nor would he have any reason to.

all of Santorum's experiences and credentials come from the legislation pushed through by Newt.

I'm not arguing that Santorum will endorse Romney. I'm explaining why some people are arguing that it's on some levels easier for a person like Santorum to be comfortable with Romney than with Gingrich purely in terms of personality. Not policy.

Santorum and Newt are friends from what I've gathered. Plus, remember what Jesus said about befriending sinners.  Tongue  Also remember that Santorum's best friend in the Senate was John Ensign so...yeah...

He'll be out the day after Iowa, I imagine. He visited every damn county in the state, he might as well see that contest through.

Yeah, I think he's definitely in until Iowa, at least.

And considering how crazy the GOP primary has been, why wouldn't he stick around for 5 more weeks and hope he becomes the flavor at just the right time?

Santorum's run has been about his own personal amusement from the beginning. And he's ok with that. He's in through Iowa. It is cute to see that some of the other personal amusement candidates have actually had their day in the sun. Go figure.
