Let's post some of the classic comments from a few months ago when the Atlas Forum Elite predicted that spectacular downfall of the former Speaker within days of entering the race.

I think this campaign was a bigger fail than Giuliani 2008.

To be fair, no-one predicted then that the 'Anti-Romney' drones would flock from candidate to candidate like moths with ADHD to a flame, allowing Gingrich to eventually receive that mantle by default.

His campaign was a disaster. It was probably one of the worst campaign rollouts seen in modern history. But Gingrich is fortunate in that he stayed in the race to sell books, instead of dropping out like a real candidate, and, as luck would have it, happpened to become the 'Anti-Romney' at pretty much the right time.

I'm still unconvinced that someone who has worked so hard and has so much love for his country actually has a chance of winning the nomination.

I deduced from Newt's po-faced statement that people who don't cheat on their wives hate America.

Newt could be an afterthought yet again in a couple of weeks, so I wouldn't go too crazy.

On a subject concerning who will win Iowa summer of 2010

Gingrich will win as well as the nomination, but because he isn't in the poll I'd say Daniels.

Who I believe is the only person 50-50 on running or not and if he doesn't run, he will be on the VP short list and for sure to be in the cabinet.

Affairs aren't forgotten, but can be forgiven. And it's been a decade now since the last time. Since being away from being Speaker, he hasn't stopped traveling the country, talking and being Newt...giving ideas.

Newt was seen as very articulate and pushing the Obama is a socialist thing which he said he wouldn't have said 6 months or a year ago. That gives the word some credibility that Newt gave him a chance with tea partiers are just seen as having called him that since he won the nomination.

I think Newt will form an exploratory committee for a month or two and then either will end it quick, or go all the way. No dropping out before the primaries like over half the candidates do

Once again, Reagan was ripped apart by the media and ended up as a very successful President. People remember Gingrich from the 90s, not today. Comebacks are possible and he's changed as a person, his major fault. I mean, he's converted to be a Catholic, found God, and can't go 30 seconds without saying "Callista and I". He always has ideas and is a great debator. I don't think he's going to get far without the debates, but I do think he'll have great potential to speed forward much like Huckabee did in 08

How do we know that it's the right time? Are we sure it isn't like any of those other times? Perry and Bachmann and even Herman Cain have all had their day; now Newt Gingrich will, and then he will be gone.

With any luck either Michelle Bachmann or Rick Santorum will rise to the fore just in time for the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.

The Rise of Rick Santorum? Scary thought in more ways that one...
