I agree with that for the most part but I would change Delaware, Georgia, Alabama, Kansas, Mississippi, Florida and possibly Oregon, Hawaii and Maine.

That was almost 3 decades ago, though, so I don't think that's an accurate way to measure it.

1976 was also in the wake of Watergate, some Southerners may have voted against the Republicans because of moral issues involving the scandal

I'm surprised Civil Rights' map has most of the South Democratic. Alabama voted 2-1 against a tax increase and N.C. and S.C. are tied for last in percentage of unionized workers.
