http://www.gq.com/entertainment/humor/201112/25-least-influential-people-alive/#slide=2

Every election season produces a number of hilariously pointless candidates who have no chance of winning. Some of them have value as novelty items. Look! It's Alan Keyes, the token black Republican! And over there! It's David Duke! He's a racist! These are the fun, fringy candidates. The Sharpton Sector, if you will.

Then there are folks like Pawlenty, who fail to register even as novelties. T-Paw (as he calls himself) spent much of 2011 as a six-foot-tall paperweight, an aggressively forgettable fellow perfectly suited to the role of debate filler. The $1 million he spent to lose the Iowa straw poll might as well have been burned in front of a group of orphans.

TPaw's problem is that the jmfcsts can't remember a single word he ever said...probably because they were never listening to begin with

On paper, he was a great candidate. I have no idea why he received such little traction.

As someone recently (and cogently) pointed out, he must be kicking himsefl for not hanging on for the game of "anti-Romney" musical charis to start. He coulda been a contender (maybe).

This story has more charisma then any speech Tim Borelenty ever made in his entire life on planet Earth. He makes Bob Dole speaking skills look like Jack Kennedy.

If he kept the Mullet, he would have done better with the redneck crowd perhaps.  It would have made him more interesting.

He was just positioning for VP anyways.

Tpaw wasn't exactly my cup of tea. That said, this piece is a snarky pile of steaming pseudo-journalistic feces. The only question it raises in my mind is what is this "journalist's" beef with the man.

Which is sad, really, that a candidate's "charisma" factors into people's voting decisions.

It's not just charisma.  Pawlenty is just a smarmy gimmick whore underneath all that boring.

Uh oh.. I hope I don't get sent to the principals office!

It brings me a lot of pleasure to see him reduced to such a joke after dealing with him for 8 years.

Indeed, his presidential campaign achieved that for him rather well on its own.

Tpaw, was taken seriously as a real contender early in the process. When he failed as a first tier candidate, he withdrew from the race. That places him with the likes of Haley Babour, and Mitch Daniels. He was more influencial than Gary Johnson, for instance.

He also didn't have a record really. Remember when him and Bachmann were seen as competing early in the debates? Bachmann pointed to a Lightbulb freedom Act (Srsly, wtf?), and Pawlenty pointed to stuff that Bachmann could spin and throw in his face. Really. Bachmann.  It takes a special man for that to happen to.

Releasing a series of hilariously overdone campaign ads, pointlessly feuding with Michele Bachmann, making some awkward Lady Gaga references, and then dropping out after coming third in a non-binding contest (which is so non-indicative of how the race will play out that since then, the order of the top 8 finishers has now pretty much flipped upside down).  That pretty much sums up Tim Pawlenty's joke of a campaign.
