"Diversity" training on the job

I can definetely say I've worked at a few places who had none and really needed it.

I'm talking about managers and other employees who are blatantly homophobic and/or racist (they usually go together)....how do they know I'm not gay, or have a black girlfriend or something?

I'll admit most of the time I think "diversity" training and the like is bullsh**t, but I think it's actually needed, especially in conservative areas like the one I live in where about 50% of the workforce is lazy white racist/homophobic trash.

We had "bad girl/bad boy" training. 

My alternate called me the "n word" more than a few times, but she's Black.  It was a term of endearment.

Of course, that was slightly before I suggested that their might be "a white boy in that woodpile."  (Well, she had a habit of yelling, "Yee Haw" and I caught her signing Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places.)

They just left us alone.

I get along with them fine...these types of people are the ones who need fixin'.

J/K of course, but people should leave their prejudices at home if you're going to work. Especially since I doubt diversity training is going to change their minds...
