So when do you guys wanna vote on this? Now?

I would imagine it would take place during our tri-annual convention, a few weeks from now.

Does the bylaw say it has to be done then? It would just making the February elections kind of confusing if we had the parties dissolve during it. Tongue

I would be happy to vote sooner, if possible.  However, I'd want to have a few days notice in the least.  I do have to consolidate support and coordinate votes behind the dissolution after all Smiley

That would be illegal under the bylaw we just passed. Tongue

What bylaw?
Jesus, seriously, for a supposed party supporting efficiency, we are so bogged down with red tape, we are like the USSR.

Lets just get on with it.

If, IF, this vote on dissolution fails, I am proposing the following bylaw:

"The Veto Bylaw

The RPP can do anything it wishes, anytime it wishes, in any way it wishes, so long as 2 or more members do not veto the idea within 96 hours."

Since when did we pass a bylaw? All I remember doing is coming in here and saying hurry-the-hell-up in whatever language requires to make things get going.

Speaking of which, if we can't vote on thursday, then lets vote today.

Has the JCP done it yet?

EDIT: Oh, I see the petition now.

Would you rather we rush it, mess it up, and thus cause it to fail because it was messed up.

Hey, now that's an idea. Evil

Hey, now that's an idea. Evil

It's been like two months... That's hardly rushing. I've read the bylaw you guys passed. It looks like one of you just needs to introduce a motion.

Based on the comments I have read and the feedback I have seen, the composition of that motion will have an impact on the support it receives. I would rather loose a day or two to ensure that it is right, then have to spend a week voting on a false start and have to start all over again (the bylaw only works once, remember). There is no margin for error here. My caution is justified.

Just for emphasis, THE BYLAW ONLY WORKS ONCE!  There won't be a second motion if it is messed up. The bylaw would have to be re-passed.

And as I stated bgwah, most of that two months was lost because supporters of this idea of yours couldn't be bothered to respond to my questions and discussion of the bylaw in a timely fashion.

Every step of the way in this process I have been met with laziness and general ignorance of even what your initial proposal contained, BY ALLEGED SUPPORTERS!!! Don't lecture me on the timeliness of this process.

The JCP's can go into effect as soon as February 1st, if you guys also dissolve by then. So allowing enough time for that to happen (and avoiding a ton of February election confusion if this passes) would be awesome. Tongue

What? I was talking to bgwah. I have been trying to get people to review the motion you wrote and get feedback on it, if you haven't noticed. The only reason I used caps on a few words in two different posts IN RESPONSE TO BGWAH (Tongue) is because I am sick of people operating in this movement on partial, incomplete, and incorrect information.

At any rate, no one should blame Yankee. He's doing his job right, he merely wants to make sure the dissolution motion is introduced in a correct way. If anyone is to blame for any delay, it's we lazy party members who haven't really contributed much so far - but that's changing now. Tongue

I'm not operating on incorrect information.

Maybe, maybe not, but others clearly are in this process and your constant suggestions "someone just introduce this" or "someone just do that" as if trying to encourage someone to do this as a rogue agent aren't going to work. I can assure you such an endeavour will be more likely to fail. For this reason and the the bylaw's singular use, your encouragement of such sends shivers down my spine at the thought that someone could introduce a malformed text. Lets say it lacked the clause that makes our dissolution conditional on the JCP dissolution or maybe some other issue is present that has been expressed as a concern, and thus it were to fail while waisting the bylaw in the process. My responses are just as much aimed at informing those ignorant of these important details why caution is necessary in response to your constant and annoying demands. You'll get what you get, when you get it.
