There are already quite a few demographic maps in the Gallery, uploaded by other posters, but I thought that it might be helpful to collate some of them in a thread. We could do them by province, and/or federally, but it is probably easier to put all of them in one thread, so that we don't have multiple threads with few entries.

This first one was uploaded by Al:

Percent Francophone by Canadian Federal Riding

In a similar vein, three maps by Hashemite:

English in Montreal and Laval by Quebec Provincial/National Riding

Another map by Hashemite:

English in Montreal and Laval by Canadian Federal Riding

And another map by Hashemite:

Francophones in New Brunswick using pre-2004 Canadian Federal Ridings

Here is a map by Earl:

Language spoken by Census Division

Sticking with language maps, here is a map uploaded by Earl from the 2001 Census:

Arab-speakers in Ottawa by Neighbourhood

Earl also uploaded this language map from the 2001 Census:

Chinese-speakers in Ottawa by Neighbourhood

This language map of Toronto was uploaded by Dean Sherratt and is from the Toronto Star. It reveals the largest non-English Mother Tongue across the Greater Toronto Area, by Census Tract:

Largest Non-English Language Spoken in the Greater Toronto Area by Census Tract

Hashemite has also uploaded very interesting economic maps for most of Canada (Median Household Income, Percent Low Income, Percent employed in Management roles, Percent employed in Trades, Percent employed in the Manufacturing Sector, Percent with a Degree, Unemployment Rate and Percent Catholic)...

There are quite a few, so I might break these into a few separate posts by region. Firstly, here is Atlantic Canada:

Newfoundland and Labrador Demographic Maps by Canadian Federal Riding

Nova Scotia Demographic Maps by Canadian Federal Riding

Finally, British Columbia:

Hashemite has made this income map of Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley, showing Median Household Income and Percent Low Income Households:

Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley Income Maps by Canadian Federal Riding

Hashemite has also made this occupation map of Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley:

Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley Occupation Maps by Canadian Federal Riding

Hashemite also uploaded these maps of Non-White and Education for Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley:

I'm not just linking to everybody else's maps, however... here's a map I did yesterday of the proportion of private dwellings rented throughout British Columbia by BC Provincial Riding. No real surprises - generally, the proportion increases in closer proximity to downtown Vancouver and downtown Victoria. The proportion of households rented across BC was a smidgeon over 30%. I found Abbotsford West and Abbotsford South interesting (higher than I expected) because I somewhat expected that in metropolitan areas, percent rented would more closely resemble election results.

I couldn't see any other obvious ones in the demographic maps folder of the Gallery, but there may be some in a different folder. If I've missed one someone's uploaded, I'm sorry. Anyway, I'm sure others can post their maps in here.

Please upload it!

I made some demographic maps of BC by provincial constituency. I'm not sure if I ever uploaded them, but I could upload them if anybody's interested.

Yes please (I hope everyone sort of takes ownership of this thread and upload plenty of the spectacular and interesting maps most of us produce)! I did one yesterday (final one in the above post), and was planning on making some more, but there's no point in me doubling up on what you've already done. If you've got any others for other provinces, they'd be great, too! You're probably already aware, but Elections BC has a spreadsheet providing stats for a range of demographic data, already arranged and sorted according to provincial riding, so it's relatively easy to create those maps (although still time-consuming).

You've missed quite a few of mine.

I'm sorry, mate. If you message me the links in the gallery, I'm happy to edit my earlier posts, or you can post them up in the thread yourself. I went through the demographics maps gallery folder, but I figured there may have been others I'd missed that may or may not have been in that folder (I had to search on Toronto to find the one of Al's).

Found some more (did a search in the Gallery for anything with a keyword of Canada).

Here's one Earl did on Religion across Canada:

Religion in Canada by Census Division

And another few by Earl, focusing on Ontario:

Religion in Ontario by Canadian Federal Riding

Percentage Identifying as Non-Religious in Ontario by Canadian Federal Riding

Dean Sherratt noted that the high proportion in the vicinity of Markham was probably due to the large proportion of ethnically Chinese people living there, who see Confucianism as a philosophy rather than a religion (see comments to the map in the gallery).

Percentage Protestant in Ontario by Canadian Federal Riding

And another by Earl:

Percentage Catholic in Ottawa by Neighbourhood

A couple of Ethnicity maps put together by Earl:

Ethnicity by Canadian Census Division

Proportion Identifying with Irish Ancestory in Ontario

Another map by Earl, looking at percentage African American:

Percentage African American by Canadian Census District

Hashemite uploaded this Aboriginal Identity map of Alberta:

Alberta Aboriginal Identity by Canadian Federal Riding

I recall seeing another one of proportion Aboriginal throughout Northern Canada (including the Northern half of the Western provinces) but couldn't find it today. Anyone know where it's hidden?

My religion map was by riding and used Orange for Prots and Green for RC Tongue

Upload it anyway! It doesn't hurt to have more than one copy.

Here are three maps I did of Alberta, based on 2003 Provincial riding boundaries and the 2006 Census results.

The first one shows the percentage speaking English at home, the second one shows the percentage speaking French at home and the third shows the percentage speaking a non-official language at home.

I was initially surprised by the higher levels of non-official languages spoken in rural and remote areas, but perhaps these are indigenous languages being spoken on reserves?

The highest level of non-official languages being spoken at home is in Calgary - McCall, at 35.7%. No other riding even passes the 30% mark.

Percentage Speaking English at Home, by Alberta Provincial Riding

Percentage Speaking French at Home, by Alberta Provincial Riding

Percentage Speaking a Non-Official Language at Home, by Alberta Provincial Riding

As always, bigger versions in the gallery.
