There's a subtle translation issue with the ethnic origin, since up until the 1960's and the simultaneous rise of Québécois identity and the adoption by Anglophones of Canadian rather than British imperial national symbolism, Francophones generally used "canadien" just for themselves and "anglais" for other Canadians, and this usage of "canadien" still exists in a historical context.

Still, I remember than we entered French as our ancestry on the last Census form.

Cool. There was a noticeable drop in the amount of people who said Canadian in 2006 compared to 2001 across the country, which made for a more interesting map.
