I play DnD, but it's been a while. I know who MC Escher is. I'm good at trivia and minesweeper. I know a bunch of Monty Python quotes but strongly disapprove of those who say them. I've been to the Ren Fair a couple of times.

I don't really "care" if Kirk or Picard is better, but have been known to engage in some nerdy debates from time to time on the subject, so I voted for that option as well. (for the record: Sisko > Picard > Kirk > Janeway > [Enterprise wasn't canon, there was no fifth captain])

I have no time for people who don't put mayonaise on their sandwiches.

I checked 17 but I could stretch to 19 with some interpretation as to what the baseline is for some of the topics.

I went to a Ren Faire when I was too young to "get" it.

I want to go to one now.  Especially since I've read a fair amount of Medieval/Renaissance history in the past year so I can be an obnoxious condescending prick to everyone about what they aren't doing right!  Smiley

fluent in Java
two caveats*
- I'll say 40 is probably one my more favorite cheap beers, but that speaks more about piss rather than it's taste
- fluent in Java, and good at Trivia are somewhat subjective, but I checked fluent in Java because most of the forum probably wouldn't be able to write hello world in it, and for trivia, we got plenty of specialists in that here.

We didn't have an AV club, but I did have permission to take and set up AV equipment in JH and HS. If that counts I could add that one as well. That would keep it from being at the lonely 0. The problem with being an old is that some of this stuff is long ago in a galaxy far away and the items in the poll were sometimes in the present tense. For instance I owned a pocket protector in the early 70's, should that count today when I haven't had one for almost 40 years? If I interpret any of the items to be valid if they applied at some time in the past then there are only 5 that wouldn't apply to me.

Have a social networking page, Facebook. Seriously in this day and age, who doesn't? Oh and I like to think I'm good at trivia.

By the way, no offence, but who honestly does calculus for fun?

Um, considering that people on this website color in maps for fun, maybe we shouldn't judge people who do calculus for fun, hm?

Some of these apply to me.  I don't drink (and hope never to start), so obviously I would prefer Earl Grey to beer.  (And I LOVE iced tea!!!)  I wear a fanny pack every now and then, and I know the first few lines to the Happy Days theme song ("Sunday, Monday, Happy Days...")  Does Miracle Whip count for putting mayo on sandwiches?  I like mayo too, but when I'm at home, it's all about the Miracle Whip. Smiley  There is an annual ren fair about 15 minutes from where I live, but I've never gone to it.  Anyway, here are some that I know apply to me:

1. Have a page on a social networking site (Facebook for me)
2. Good at trivia
3. Recite pi for a long time (3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375)
4. Pop Bubble Wrap

Can't believe that only six of us play D&D. Would have guessed that there's a large amount of crossover between that and the fantasy elections & what-ifs crowds.

When I started I used this. I still have originals in my attic. Better still in the context of the OP is that I played at MIT.

knows Pascal     (assuming this refers to the philosopher/mathmetician)
It's the programming language that is being referred to in the song.

and I think the biggest shockers for me are that 60ish% of us know who MC Escher is and that almost half of us edit wikipedia.  I'm a little saddened that only 3 of us own a soldering iron.  (not that I ever use mine)

and I crown muon as King of the Nerds.  Death to all pretenders!

Smiley

If crowned I demand to know this song of which you speak.

Though popular with other posters, editing Wikipedia is one of the five on the list I can't claim in any way.

Werid Al's - White and Nerdy...based off of Chamilionaire's Ridin' Dirty.  Both are good songs.

I have edited Wikipedia a few times. I have also played minesweeper, but I wouldn't say I'm good at it.

Knows who MC Escher is
Prefer Earl Grey tea over 40ozs of beer (As a recovering alcoholic, I really have no choice. I never liked beer anyway)
Have a page on a social network site
Put mayo on sandwiches (Sometimes)
Know the lyrics to Happy Days
Good at ping pong
Good at trivia
Edit Wikipedia (Sometimes)
Knows a bunch of Holy Grail quotes (I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!)
Pop bubble wrap (I once asked for it for my birthday)
