"We're back and we have some projections to make in the presidential race. It is eight o'clock on the east coast and we are now calling the states of Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Maryland, Illinois, Pennsylvania  and New Hampshire.
For Governor Perry we project, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas.
Certainly the win for Obama in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire are important, but we will see as the results in Florida, Virginia and North Carolina was still outstanding."

Perry: 120
Obama: 85

The elections results were mostly predictable, with many of the states falling with they were supposed to as the night went on. Rick Perry eventually won North Carolina, but Obama took Virginia. He would eventually take Colorado, but by a much smaller margin.

Obama: 195
Perry: 187

By the ten o'clock hour Perry carried the traditional western states of Montana and Utah, as well as carrying the state of Florida, which helped him considerably. But the real states in question were Ohio, Iowa and Nevada.

Florida:
Perry: 49.6%
Obama: 49.3%

So Obama wins re-election. He needs 75 electoral votes, and California, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii are 78, right?

By 11:00 the verdict was finally in and Barack Obama had been reelected President; just crossing the threshold of 273 electoral votes.

Obama: 273
Perry: 232

The Obama reelection was not as decisive as his win over John McCain. Perry did manage to take Iowa and Ohio; albeit narrowly, while Obama concluded his western strategy and took Nevada. The final tally was a narrow victory for Obama: 279 to Perry's 259.

Close States:

Iowa:
Perry: 49.43%
Obama: 49.33%

Ohio:
Perry: 49.50%
Obama: 49.32%

Nevada:
Obama: 50.9%
Perry: 48.2%

The Reelection of Obama caused dismay among the Republicans, some who blamed the nomination of Rick Perry as the problem, but as many concluded, "We'll never know, just start looking at 2016." Obama pulled off the political upset of the century, despite an unemployment rate of 8.2% Obama managed to make the election a choice between him and the future and Perry and the past. However, many wondered if he would be able to properly govern. The Republican retained control of the senate and took the senate which was a surprise to many.

Yep, thought so. Perry just isn't going to play in a lot of battleground states.

By the way, are you ever going to post the last three states in the Romney vs. Schweitzer/Warren timeline? Smiley

Yes, it's coming. I've been toying with some endings for it.
