Was that a political ad or an ad for a pickup truck?

Very macho. It should do well with the young self-confident I am going to set the world on fire testosteroned set, who just wants "the man" out of their way. Smiley

It's a lot better than his ads from last time around: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30yxHqSUva8.

Any good political ad looks and sounds nothing like a political ad.

A good ad - silly works because it sticks in your mind.  People normally tune out political ads (or any ads) so it has to be something that grabs your attention.

This is a good ad.  But where is it running (or is it internet-only)?

It's definitely not a web ad; they wouldn't add in the "I'm Ron Paul" bit if it was.

Not sure which states it's running in though.

It's actually a pretty sophisticated ad.

It's already airing in Iowa.  I've heard it's on ESPN.

That semi truck that rolls through towards the end is a clear reference to Iowa football.  Hawkeye fans will recognize the allusion to their team.  (Before every game at Kinnick Stadium, there's a team intro where a giant semi truck runs over the opposing team's mascot on the jumbotron.

See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0oOU5visik&feature=player_embedded

Also the "drain the swamp" phrase is an allusion to Reagan, obviously.

This ad has a very clear target audience and while it's silly, it should also be effective.

I think it's a very good ad. In 35 second he manages to hit on a large number of things appealing to the GOP base (and not mentioning some of his more "unique" positions), and the production values are really high.

It really contrasts to his terrible ads from four years ago, that consisted of a bunch of people basically saying "I think there's a chance I might vote for Ron Paul."

That was awesome.  How could you not vote for Ron Paul after watching that?

I only wish I'd stumbled across it while watching TV, so I could come here and post, "Dude, you have to see this wicked Ron Paul ad they're playing in Flyover Country."

Amazing.  I loved it.  I don't even agree with a lot of that and I was pretty hyped up.  I like the end... "Ron Paul. DO IT!"

It's very effective; I liked it. He doesn't mention his extreme positions (namely the Fed) and stays on point.

It seems like something Cain's team would have come up with. This will probably help Paul with some voters.

The ad doesn't appeal to me, but I'm not the audience. Conservative Iowans are, and it is a great ad for them.
