I don't think any before the banning of slavery should count since it wasn't really considered racist by people who lived in those time periods, and also those elections would obviously win.

I say either 1948, or 1968. George Wallace will always be a piece of dogsh** to me, and Strom Thurmond would most likely be in the same animal group of turd.

You know what, Just because I hate Wallace more, I have to say 1968.
