lol @ the republican butthurt over this poll. They apparently don't like the 51% Democratic/29% Republican base cross-tab for NM and they've been tweeting at PPP: http://twitter.com/ppppolls

Unless they suddenly start winning 60-70% of the Hispanic vote (0% chance of this), the Southwest will increasingly fall out of reach for Rs

That's the same number as 6 months ago, except Wilson lost 2 to "undecideds." Too bad they didn't poll the primaries. IMO she's only useful as a "decoy" barring a massive GOP wave that includes the WH, much like Hoekstra in MI or Lingle in HI.

Actually, they did poll the primaries. Wilson leads Sanchez 55-20 with 9% going to two also-rans, while Heinrich leads Balderas 47-30.

The GOP will eventually grow less xenophobic as Hispanics begin to integrate much like the Irish and the Germans did. In a few decades, Hispanics will be voting 55-60% D.

This is winnable for the GOP. Too bad it coincides with a Presidential election.

Oh good, I was hoping there would be a poll on this.

NM is most certainly majority Dem.  Democrats control every facet of government.  There's a lot of conservative Dems, so it elects GOP in the big races when its more informed, but the sample is not off.

Republicans are not xenophobic. That's insulting
