Rep. Geoff Davis, R-Ky., will not seek a fifth term next year, according to a statement posted to his website on Thursday evening.

Legally not, perhaps, but I'm not sure how the voters of Kentucky will respond to someone leaving town for Massachusetts and then coming back to run for Congress.

The GOP should be required to forfeit their right to field a candidate, as punishment for rigging the election so many times before.

Better? In a sense "even more conservative"? How it's possible? Davis is a very conservative himself. And, BTW, House has more then enough ultras of all stripes  already...

Agree. But i would like for a Delaware, Maryland, New England and some other suitable areas to be able to elect Mike Castle (and even more liberal) Republicans. And, vice versa, a South or other suitable states - to elect rather conservative Democrats. The present day polarization (it's enough to look at typical vote, say, on thomas.loc.gov) is above sky-high

If you want a moderate Republican district, all you have to do is gerrymander in some Dem areas of Louisville. Create a moderate district and you'll get a well behaved candidate.

The Democrats can win if they get the right candidate. Not necessarily a Blue Dog, but someone who can advocate for the left on economics, and speak to the right on social issues.
