Traditionally on internet forums, it is a courtesy to not fill your signature with several large images.  It happens anyway though (I understand, often unintentionally).  My question is if the Dave could impose a size limit for images in signatures.  Because right now, I will enter certain threads only to have my browser hang.

Indeed.  I'm not sure if it's ignorance or a lack of respect for others that makes somebody do the giant sigs.  Either way, they are asshats.  And I am jabbing you if you have a big sig.  You are a douche.  And no, turning off sigs is stupid.  I enjoy sigs.  Why should I punish myself because 5-10% of the message board are selfish asshats?

It's big, but just barely.  If I have to scroll down a full page just to get past a sig, it's too big.  If you had more respect for the rest of us, you'd find a smaller image though.

I only see one signature image in this thread, and it's the white one in RP2012's sig. I just blocked his black one, combined they are too tall for my taste, if he had placed them side by side, they'd be fine.
