No, he wouldn't. He would make an excellent debate, but at the best for him, it would be a draw.

As for the question, I honestly think Perry would be a stronger candidate overall. People are putting too much emphasis on the debates (especially when it comes to the general election).
Besides, after watching Gingrich take that pounding from Michelle Bachmann in the last debate, I'm less sure about his "skills" in the clinch than ever.
