Good news for Romney.

Unlike Gingrich, Perry, and perhaps Bachmann, Santorum does not have much of a path beyond Iowa. Santorum beating the two evangelicals would take the cake for Mittens.

Santorum gets the endorsement from the worst person in Iowa? Thrilling.

I have never even heard of this guy, but, seeing how Iowa works, a Santorum, Paul, Perry or Bachmann victory is very likely.

Yeah, and imagine if Santorum finished ahead of Gingrich, or even just tied him. Romney, Paul, Santorum, Gingrich (,everybody else) is the ideal order in Iowa. Pretty much ends it for everybody other than Romney, although Paul would continue marching onward for a while.

Notable that the Family Leader did not endorse (yet).

They voted to stay neutral.

Good for him... like Brownback in 08, Santorum deserves more attention then he gets. He is a consistent conservative and a good man

Probably a minor net negative for the contenders.  Overall, good news for Santorum but not the slam dunk he'd want.

Vander Plaats is like the Mike Huckabee of the Iowa Republican Party. This is a pretty big deal. Iowa conservatives love him.

Word is that Vander Plaats also asked Bachmann to drop out and endorse Santorum.

Another step to Romney getting his ultimate wish--that Santorum, Perry, Bachmann and Gingrich all get about 10-15% in IA, with none of them consolidating the conservative vote.

I do think that even if Santorum doesn't win Iowa (still very likely) he should stay in till South Carolina at least. There is a bit of a polling surge for him right now, and if he does become a FOTM, he might make it in time to pull off a win in SC.
