Agreed. Although as others pointed out Obama has kept his promise and left Iraq (and will leave sometime in the next year or two from Afghanistan), so I feel like he might as well have left that 'point'/distortion out.

Well, they weren't out within the timeframe that he originally campaigned on (although I don't think anyone seriously believed the troops were going to leave that early).
