RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Former presidential candidate John Edwards says he has been diagnosed with a medical condition that would make it difficult for him to attend his approaching criminal trial over campaign finances and is asking for it to be delayed.

I'd like to delay it until after the 2012 elections. You may start November 7 Tongue

After reading that "Game Change" book I'm a lot less critical of Edwards. His wife seemed like a pretty awful human-being.

He also sounded like a genuine guy until he got sucked into his megalomania.

IDK he never sounded like a "regular guy" to me, there was always something very off about him. And that's when I was about 16 and doing the whole "anybody but Bush"/"populist"/moderate hero thing and theoretically should have loved him. I remember actually thinking Dean sounded like a likable guy, though.

John Edwards: an ambulance chaser who tried to paint himself as working people's friend, while getting expensive haircuts. A phony family man who, indeed, cheated on his cancer-stricken wife.

I considered him phony as early as late 2003 and, as later developments showed, I was right.

What was so "genuine" about him at any time?

Also, regardless of any "character" issues, he was badly overrated as a politician. Six years in the Senate without real accomplishments, did not bring anything to the ticket as Kerry's RM.
