I'm leaving tomorrow evening for a communist country. No, not Vermont or Quebec. Cuba. So, I'll be relaxing on the beach while the bulk of you freeze over Smiley But I'll also miss the caucuses.

I don't know if there'll be any interwebs access in Cuba, so unless there is, I won't be back online until January 9 at the earliest.

I'd take a beach in Cuba over the caucus any day.  Have a good time.

I'm back, blabla. I could put some random posts on my reflections on Cuba up if anybody is interested as it's a fascinating place, but on a different note: what forum-related or politics-related stuff did I miss?

I only found out about the IA caucus results this morning!

So how accurate or inaccurate are the (american) stereotypes?

And as a little codicil, it is illegal for Americans to go to any such Cuban beach, absent pulling some strings via being part of some ersatz study group or something. My brother goes to Cuba as part of birding groups, or literature groups (e.g., visiting the bars that Hemingway got bombed in), and such, when the State Department in a rather erratic manner, issues a license to do so. Absent a license, it is a big fine, like 10K, along with other un-pleasanties.

It is truly an insane rule, but that rule has left Cuba "unspoiled" in many ways, and I hope to go, before the American masses are let in, and the place becomes yet another everywhere is anywhere more fungible sort of place. In a word, I plan to pull my own stings. Smiley

In another word, in this instance, I'm jealous that you're French Hash.

I have a basic gist of the US stereotypes, but are there any particular ones which you're thinking about so I could speak to them specifically?

Anyways, I'll put something up sooner or later.
