So essentially, it's within the margin of error of counting/voting errors.

100 votes out of 80K is within the margin of error given the type of counting used by caucuses.

Has there ever been an election this big that has come down to the final two precincts?

None that I can remember.

And thank you again for that speech, which helped remind me what a self-righteous theocrat with his own personal pipeline from God to the platform-writing committee you are and always have been.

God forbid someone be genuinely religious.  Roll Eyes  That means they think they have a "pipeline" to God.

Yes, Phil, someday after I've served a couple more years as deacon in my church, I'll hopefully get over this aversion to the "genuinely religious". Roll Eyes

Well then you, of all people, shouldn't be holier-than-thou and bash Santorum's religious nature.

On the contrary, people who understand important parts of Santorum's (or anybody's, for that matter) thought processes are eminently qualified to explain the flaws in how those thought processes transfer into specific policies and positions.

If Santorum insists on wearing his religion on his sleeve in every politicking stump speech, let alone make it clear over the course of decades in politics he'd like to enact the editorial page of the Observatore Romano into law, then neither he nor his supporters have any room to bitch when someone calls him on it.

But you belong to a secular humanist sect no, Badger? Tongue Anyhoo, Rick doesn't write his speeches to appeal to the Torie vote, much less the Badger vote - clearly.  Smiley

Having said that, Rick gave a good speech I think. He worked hard on that speech clearly, and gave it some thought. He was in a word - disciplined, a character trait truly foreign to Newt. And Rick, while rather frightening in many ways (how much of it is rhetoric, and how much real?), would clearly make a better President than Newt.

Santorum's pipeline to God stuff really sounded forced and, well, evangelical. I am not used to hearing such explicit religious content from a politician.

We (as in most of the developed West) are not looking for religion right now, and Santorum stands out for all the wrong reasons for being more pulpit than despatch box.

You really aren't distinguishing between attacking blantant misuse of religion for politicking and attacking another Christian's "religious nature", are you?

I've got a great idea. Let's debate this. I'm sure one of us will wind up convincing the other of the correctness of our argument. No one here will mind a thread jack as the last two precincts report, right? It might slow bandwidth and posts but I'm sure you all agree this is VERY serious business Phil and I have.

Right?

Where'd all those torches come from? And how'd you all find pitchforks.....?

Ahh ok.  I finally got to a computer, so I don't know where stuff's at.  And CNN doesn't have working county data.  And AP and Des Moines Register are behind.

If this is going to turn into another Keystone Phil vs. the world thread, please lock it.

Also, it is kind of funny to note once again how clueless the non-Christian western world is.  Not that I would ever support anyone like Santorum, but I understand where he's coming from.

https://www.google.com/fusiontables/DataSource?dsrcid=2475248

Then export the data into Excel and/or click options and use a filter to figure out what is out (NumberCountedBallotBoxes=0).

Out:
Clinton - Clinton W2p2
Keokuk - Sigourney Plank Van Buren

If the 2 precincts that remain vote in the same proportion as the rest of their respective counties, Romney will win by 30 votes.

Why did Perry do so well in southern Iowa? Do they speak with a twang and say ya'll in those parts?

I guess you don't remember much from November 7, 2000.
Other epic races included Washington governor 2004, and Minnesota Senate 2008.

CNN just confirmed there are two precincts still tabulating the results. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer.  Thankfully, I don't have to work today.
