The other five are all on the ballot. The requirements were 296 signatures from Republicans, or a $10,000 fee. Romney and Huntsman were the only two who actually got the signatures. Is it that hard to find 300 Republicans in DC? Did they try K Street?

If Santorum gets until DC Primary, he can use Newton Leroy as his surrogate candidate.

I guess they're planning on trying to get on the ballot in Pennsylvania now. Petition season (easily the most aggravating time of the political year) runs from January 24th - February 14th here so unless New Hampshire and South Carolina are total disasters for him and he drops out, they'll be trying. Not saying that he'll get on but with his showing yesterday, the party establishment (though mostly with Romney) might help him out because he's the favorite son. Here's hoping that he makes it this far so I can sign and vote for him.  Smiley

Is D.C. even really that important? How many delegates does it have in proportion with the overall total?

One of two things.....

either the Santorum campaign is very broke or very disorganized or both.....

or they know they have no chance in a black area, especially after Santorum's remarks about blacks and welfare.....

That'd be pretty heartbreaking if he couldn't get on the ballot there. He's probably leading Romney by 20 points there now...

Uh... this the DC Republican primary. There are no black people voting in it.

Indeed. There are barely any people voting in it at all.

He won't win.  He probably didn't even plan on making it that far, and are there 300 Santorum supporters in D.C.?  Probably not.  So when you haven't been organised to get the signatures, why waste the $10,000 on a primary he won't win?
