This definitely struck me as more damaging than his out-of-context remarks about firing people.

I hate politicians like romney. total complete sham.

santorum is 1000 times the man that romney is. you might disagree with santorum but santorum doesnt disagree with santorum. romney disagrees with romney.

how someone can support romney is a complete mystery.

Santorum and Gingrich are the ones who are bought and paid for by K Street, their masters since 1995. Have they ever held a job outside of government, anyway? Lobbying gigs and writing books do not count, of course.

Of course Romney knows what it means to fear being fired. When you are an executive, you sometimes make mistakes because humans err. Those mistakes sometimes lead to firings. I am sure Romney made his fair share of mistakes and was probably close to being fired from time to time.

Furthermore, Romney held numerous summer jobs as a high school and college student. I am sure there were times when he made a mistake that he thought could potentially get him fired.

To be fair he may have feared being fired... but not about paying the bills... and to be equally fair, the last time he was close to being fired... he chose to quit and not run for reelection instead.

Jesus Christ, these people need to get a grip on messaging...

How many people read that as "Mitt makes $$" at first glance?

Polnut got it. While Romney's statement may have technically been true it does seem to me a bit preposterous that he would allude to having the same fear that a "common" American would have about losing a job. The real fear not comes from losing the job itself but the prospect of having no income and no way to support your family afterwards, that is something that Romney never has faced.

In all fairness, Mitt had no net worth when he got out of college, and had two kids to keep going. There were probably times when he was working his way up the ladder that he feared getting axed, and ending up with no income and no way to support his family short of going to his parents with his hat in hand.

Remember over the summer when Moneybags Mitt told a town-hall audience member who was unemployed that he was unemployed as well? He's an awful, awful human-being.

Actually, yes it is, because it's multi-millionaire Mitt Romney saying it. It's probably not fair, but thems the breaks : politico:

Just the truth.

But you know what I love?  The fact you will have to choose between Romney and Obama in November, among serious candidates.

Of course you don't fear being fired when you have hundreds of millions of dollars. Has Mitt had any job in the last 5 years? He's a member of the idle rich, who contribute nothing to society, and yet have way more wealth than those who do contribute.

Yeah, I'm sure the son of a CEO turned governor who ran for President (Hmm, that sounds familiar) really had to worry about making ends meet.

Well, since Mitt didn't start out as a multi-millionaire, it seems reasonable that, at some point in his life, it was perform or get fired, at least in the early 1970's.  Likewise, he had to succeed at Bain Capital (and did) or watch the company go down the tubes.

Is let's get rid of birth control Rick Santorum for real?

To do that, the Constitution would need to be amended per Griswald.  So it would be along uphill climb to make birth control illegal - very uphill. Smiley

So we lose every single minority and now the lower and middle class. Who's left to carry the south in the general?
