Could a Rubio pick become compared to the Quayle pick?

Could Romney picking Rubio for VP generate comparisons to the GHW Bush pick of Quayle?
Young Senator, seen at the time as an up and comer.
After awhile in the public eye, the general consensus came to be that the Quayle pick was a mistake.
Could Rubio come to be seen as another Quayle?
Please discuss.

No. Different IQ, different temperament, different speaking abilities and charisma, and different levels of discipline. Rubio thinks before he speaks for starters. Rubio would make a splendid lawyer. Quayle should have been better suited as a real estate agent or stock broker or something.

We'd have to wait and see how he performs on the national stage.

He's effectively already performed on the national stage. Politicians "go national" much more frequently and easily than in 1988, and he was one of the highest profile Republican wins of 2010. The fact that this was largely due to his speaking style makes it unlikely he'd sink low enough to be compared to Quayle.

Quayle was elected to the Senate in 1980 and reelected in 1986 before being picked to run as VP. He was a 7 1/2 year senator. Rubio will have been a 1 1/2 year senator if picked this summer.
But, he seems smarter and more articulate than Quayle. I think he can spell potato, too.

While Quayle had more experience while selected than Rubio would have (four years in the House, eight in the Senate), he was, as Torie put lightly and I'll put bluntly, an idiot. Rubio, as much as I may disagree, is not.
"Resume" thing is one of the most overrated factors.

No. Rubio is much more capable. His lack of experience worries me, but his knowledge of political issues makes up for it I guess.

So everybody's already forgotten about how Rubio lied about his family history?
