In any given presidential election, the advantage is often given to the incumbent who is up for reelection. Nonetheless, it's obvious that the United States' economy has yet to rebound and the country still faces numerous challenges. Obama faces numerous obstacles already, such as a high unemployment rate and a faltering economy, yet it seems that the nations problems may need more than one president to fix them. Placing aside any partisan feelings you may have, how likely is the following scenario:

Barack H. Obama (2009 - 2013)
W. Mitt Romney (2013 - 2017)
Unknown Democrat (2017 - 2025)

I'd say pretty likely given how bad things are. But the situation at the moment is so cloudy we really can't make any predictions.
