Something I've always wondered, and I'm not asking for a response from the sponsor, is, if Oakvale had been elected last February, and he had been the President who pushed this bill (He supported something very similar to this if my memory serves me correct) and got it signed, would we still be seeing multiple failed attempts to get it repealed?

I agree with Shua, not necessarily on all the specifics, but that changes need to be made. I've said plenty times before that this bill isn't perfect, and that some clarifications should be made, but an all-out repeal would send us about two steps backwards, while making some positives changes would bring us forward.

For the record, should this somehow pass, being that it would make me pretty much irrelevant as SoIA (That may be the sponsor's goal, not that we'd know what his goals are since he hasn't bothered to show up yet), I would resign. My guess is the SoEA probably feels very similar.

I spoke with constituents about what I saw as an ignorance of the duties of the SoIA position outside of your own legislation during the hearing. Sadly, your post and activity in office seem to confirm that suspicion.
Everyone would still like to here your defense of this bill.

I am proud of the job I've done as SoIA, especially considering most of the time I've been in office was over Holidays, and I stand by it. I've started a regional roundabout, which gives citizens an easy access way to check how things are going (the next installment will occur this week). I've also been working with Yelnoc on completing the IDS budget, as well as continue to work with the Mideast Assembly. I've stayed involved and active in Senate affairs, and have a good communication flow with Shua. Perfect? No. But progress is being made, whether you see it or not, and we will continue to progress, whether you like it or not.

Actually, when this bill is voted down, I hope to work with Shua on a new bill that actually will address the problem, not further complicate it.

March 2nd...that day will be an early Birthday present for me.

Special thanks to the Senate for rejecting this partisan, anti-Tmth/Ben POS.

I'm not too big on getting a lesson on activity from someone who doesn't even bother to show up to defend a bill, simply because he doesn't like the many people who are opposed to this and see it for what it is.

If your goal was to make different amendments, you should have said that from the start. Both Shua and I, as well as Ben, are more than open to changes. We just don't want an all out repeal, which is what you suggested.

See, even despite what the GM says, he ignores the need for change and makes it personal. Im glad I didn't let myself get suckered into this "debate".
You lie:

From the original version, it just looks like an attempt by you to strip powers from myself and Ben, two people you don't like at all and have made obvious. If you're real interest is making amendments, rather than all out repeal (Even though you've supported an all-out repeal plenty of times in the past) I would be more than willing on comfortably working with you, Shua, Ben, and anyone else who would want to be involved in coming up with solutions. No one really knew, though, that your intent was to just amend the GM Reform Act, because you never bothered to show up to debate.

I'm going to leave it to Ben for his time absent, but as for me, I think it's ridiculous you're attacking me on activity one month in, two of those weeks being during the Holidays, especially considering that I have done a decent amount of work, and more is on the way.

I'm also hoping for an answer on why you believe I'm against any changes, unlike Shua, when I clearly stated earlier that I was open to amendments.

Im not calling you inactive, I'm saying you seem to just ignore some job duties.

The PPT set the tone for the "debate" in his first post. What's a Senator to do?

You never brought any concerns you had with my performance up, which is what I'd hope you would do as a Senator and future Governor. Instead, a bill of yours is introduced that strips just about all of my powers. Communication would be better in the future.

You could have simply stated that your intent wasn't for an all-out repeal, and that you wanted to make amendments to the GM Reform Act. I can't speak for others, but I would have been more than willing to come up with potential solutions with you.

I would continue arguing with you on this, but I don't want to, so I won't. Someone else is going to have to take over. Wink Or, we could just drop this and start coming up with solutions to solve this problem in Atlasia.

More than willing to find solutions? You're contribution this debate involved a suggestion that I introduced it because it was signed by you. You aren't fooling anyone here.
I think you're introducing it because you don't like Ben and I, and don't like the jobs we're doing. If that's the case, I'm not sure if the law is necessarily the problem, rather, the people.

I guess I am fooling one person: You, because you seem to believe this isn't an issue I care about and want to see resolved.  Test me on this -  I'm more than willing to go out of my own way to give you some satisfaction on this issue, as well as anyone else who has concerns. What may have been a good bill may need changes now - I am fully aware of that, and hope those changes will be made. I'll provide whatever is needed for that to take place.

Goodnight, everyone. Here's hoping I don't wake up tomorrow to this being at Page 10. Wink
