What is your voting record like?
«
on:
January 16, 2012, 05:13:06 pm »
Inspired by a "who will you vote for?" thread where several people mentioned they might skip the election.
So, how often do you (or don't you) vote?

I've voted in every election I've had the opportunity to vote in, save for last year's primary for no particularly good reason, though it really didn't matter.

Voted every year except for 2011 (because I really didn't give a damn who won or lost that year).
I will be back to my usual diligence this year, though.

I've voted in every election I've had the chance to (which isn't saying much) and for every office which was on the ballot.

I think the only election I've ever skipped was some referendum on boring local stuff in Mankato in an odd year, 2005 I think.

Incredibly boring and rather hackish. I vote Labour and if there's not a Labour candidate I tend to scrawl 'George Orwell' on the ballot. I always vote, when I can. I missed the last European elections because I was in hospital.
Oh, and I spoilt my ballot in the AV Referendum as well. Wrote '1' in the one option and '2' in the other; not sure which, actually.

I've never voted in anything, but I supported:
Huckabee in the '07/'08 primaries (McCain in the general)
Onorato for Governor in '10
Toomey for Senate in '10
Ron Paul in the '11/'12 primaries
I'll likely be supporting Gary Johnson in the general.
Sam Rohrer for Senate '12
I used to be a super hardcore Conservative once upon a time.

Haven't missed an election or referendum to the best of my knowledge. I don't bother voting in student union elections if that counts, but, um...

Like Hash, I was one of the few students to vote in the student union elections. Totally bogus elections, that disqualified candidates after they won, but anyways..
And of course, I have voted in every single election I have been legally allowed to vote for,
2006 federal (Henri Sader, NDP (lost) )
2006 municipal (Alex Munter, mayor (lost); Yusef Al Mezel, city council (lost); Bronwyn Funicello, trustee (won))
2007 provincial (Edelweiss D'Andrea, NDP (lost) )
2008 federal (Paul Dewar, NDP (won) )
2010 municipal (Jane Scharf, mayor (lost); Diane Holmes, city council (won); Jennifer McKenzie, trustee (won) )
2011 federal (Paul Dewar, NDP (won) )
2011 provincial (Anil Naidoo, NDP (lost) )

Oh, they did that too? Priceless. They disqualified some guy last here, and he proceeded to throw some hissy fit. I just voted for girls who I found hot, because student elections are a joke and the SFUO is a huge joke. I won't vote for anybody this year, because the SFUO is a useless fraud which didn't even think it convenient to tell me I hadn't been hired for a job, so I'll write-in Rick Santorum and Rick Perry.

My voting record is a poor one. I have only once voted for the candidate who won the race and that was for alderman. I voted for my alderman because he had been my economics professor when I attended community college. Every other time I have voted, from school board to U.S. president, I have voted for the loser.

My voting record is none existant as I cannot vote.
My parents ask me who to vote for, since they are apolitical. So this is my
de facto
record.
2010
Senate:
Marco Rubio
Congress:
Allen West
Governor:
Rick Scott
2008:
President:
John McCain
Congress:
Allen West
(his first, failed run)
2006:
Senate:
Bill Nelson
Congress:
Clay Shaw
Governor:
Charlie
Crist
(seeing as he turned out, he is a mixture of Blue and Green, ofcourse)
2004:
President:
George W. Bush
Senate:
Mel Martinez
(I wanted
Betty Castor
because she looked nice but my parents voted for Martinez anyway.
Congress:
Clay Shaw
The first election in which my opinion was really asked for was 2010, but my parents asked me who should I vote for in every election since 2004, and we always agreed anyway.
