This line of attack regarding jobs is disingenuous.  How many permanent jobs would this create?  If we're set on this type of thing, why haven't we seen an agreement regarding infrastructure upgrades yet?  The American Jobs Act was full of that stuff and the GOP wouldn't hear any of it.

"The oil industry has estimated the project would create 20,000 jobs, although the state department and some independent studies suggest a lower figure of 6,000 jobs."

Maybe it's an extension of supply side economics - by creating 6,000 jobs, this pipeline will allow several hundred thousand other people to also find employment.
