McCrory has the ability to outrun the GOP Prez candidate by 10 points or so in Mecklenburg county, which makes it difficult to beat him. And he would have outrun the ticket by even more without the Obama surge their of minority straight ticket Dem voters.

Didn't he get like 70% in the 9th district in 2008, while McCain got 55%?

The only way to beat him is to get rural voters who don't much care for moderate city boys to defect to the Democrat, the McCain/Perdue voters, basically.

Pretty close. In the new 9th, Obama got 45% while Perdue got 32%.

What was the old ninth?

She ran some ads that tried to make her seem like the country gal against the city boy who was out of touch with NC values. In the last week or so she rans vowing to crack down on illegals (Something McCrory had vowed to do) and attacking McCrory for wanting to bring NJ and NY Garbage in to NC's dumps.

He is leading the primary poll I saw on local news with about 38% or so. It had quite a few undecideds though.

Appearently, Etheridge announced but didn't file and the deadline is in a few days. Might he have been just engaging in a publicity stunt or is he real?
