I'd be interested in something like this, but you'd better give a good description of the setting. I know as much about 1950's Glasgow as I do about brain surgery (that is to say, absolutely nothing).

Yeah. I'd be happy to give a rundown Smiley

This would be attempt... four? Sort of. But we got quite a way last time, so perhaps there's hope. It would help if the GM isn't also a workaholic. Ahem.

If this gets beyond... well... this thread... I will archive the Stovesby material and set up any threads the GM wants.

So...here is the background. Here be the Wards

And here is the political make-up.

There are two 'party' groupings: Labour and the Moderates/Progressives. The darker the colour means the more secure each party is in the ward.

I think I'll sign up to be the councillor (is that the right term?) for Kinning Park.

Kinning Park

Located on the south bank of the River Clyde, Kinning Park was Scotland’s smallest burgh and survived until 1905 when it was incorporated into the City of Glasgow. In the 1870’s long before the formation of the Labour Party it had an extraordinarily strong ‘working men’ representation on it’s council.

By the 1950’s, Kinning Park was a fairly prosperous part of the city with late Victorian architecture and since 1896, was served by it’s own Subway station. While very close to the shipyards, it’s residencies were well built and tended to attract more skilled dockers as well as tradesmen and some middle class residencies to the south of the ward. It was also home of Glasgow’s massive Terminus Quay; a grand railway terminus for goods to board and be landed by commercial ships.

Yeah, that sounds roughly like the sort of constituency I'm looking for. Kinning Park it is!

Each ward was elected in 3rds; elected one member each year to sit for 3 years

1949 - Moderate
1950 - Moderate
1951 - Moderate
1952 - Labour
1953 - Labour
1954 - Labour

And here is your turf:

Do we start out as incumbents? If so, I'll be the guy who was just elected in 1954. Otherwise, I'll ask for an open seat, since I have a Labour character in mind.

Expertly done, with the detached part of Lanarkshire North always intriguing (an oversight perhaps on behalf of the Commission) While I imagine you used Vision of Britain I can’t work out how you did these. I do miss the Burgh’s. At least they brought back a Paisley seat.

Indeed. Though a knocking together of heads would be helpful.
