Not much new going on in this poll. Only 34% of Gingrich's supporters like his moon base idea, which makes me sad a bit. Santorum is a clear second choice. It's 45-35 Romney among those who've already voted.

It looks over, but until Romney starts winning some states with a majority instead of a plurality, the fat lady will not have sung.

Per this poll, if nobody could vote absentee, Santorum could have broken 20%, but they do, and he has left the state for a couple of days, and apparently isn't get much in the way of crowds or traction. His percentage might have much to do with whether Newt does a big money dump in Florida, but he hasn't so far, but says he will in the last few days. Somehow I doubt that he will. Newt is getting big crowds however. He makes for great theatre.

Santorum left the state because his daughter is hospitalized.  Newt's crowds were lower today, according to NBC.

Yes, I know why Rick left. If the condition of his kid is serious, he would leave irrespective. If not, well he said he is going to fire up his turbotax to generate his tax return while home. In some ways, Florida is not a good state for Rick. He would do better in Wisconsin (assuming his hawkish qualities don't put off all those dovish Catholics north of Milwaukee).  Smiley

3 things that sunk Gingrich:

* the moon colony thing (gets horrible ratings with FL Republicans: 20% support, 60% oppose)

* Herman Cain endorsement (PPP says that only 10% are more likely to vote for a Cain-backed candidate, 30% less likely)

* Romney outspends Gingrich by 20 million to 7 million in Florida

This poll doesn't reflect the Cain thing, and I think voters don't mind Cain or the moon base thing enough to change their mind. What sunk Gingrich was that he didn't win a debate. He's lost this, and even if he leads nationally, I see no winnable contest (he has no organisation for the caucuses) until Arizona, in a month. Unless he gets some organisation or Ron Paul takes a few caucuses Romney will be unstoppable.

You can confront somebody without calling them an "ignorant piece of garbage" fyi. And I don't advocate for banning anyone, I just find it disturbing that someone like you can talk to people like that on here while someone new would probably be banned in a day or two for using that kind of language when talking to other posters.

There's no need to scream. Cool down, take a chill pill, relax, go on vacation, etc.
