How is this man seen as a future President/Speaker/etc... The top leaders always have a certain gravitas about them. Paul Ryan looks and sounds like a 19 year old. Seriously- the boy needs to gain some weight to look the part... he doesnt have to be a fatass like Gingrich but at least he shouldnt look like if I gave him a high-5 his arm would snap in two. Has anyone else thought this?

He could be a Speaker. Speakers don't need gravitas or charisma in quite the same way that Presidents do. Look at Hastert or Boehner. Or, from what I've heard of his era, Foley.

I agree with you that he's not Presidential material, for this and other reasons. He occasionally comes across as whiny, though not as badly as Eric Cantor.

He's lean, muscular, athletic, over 6 feet tall. I don't see a gravitas deficit in either appearance or speech.

I've often thought that he looks smaller than he is on camera, for some reason.

Yes, he is a bit immature at the moment. I agree with that. But he has a lot of potential.  He is a serious man.

You think Ryan looks young?

This is Josh Mandel, the Republican candidate for the US Senate seat in Ohio held by Sherrod Brown:

Nobody ever said that Josh Mandel doesn't look like my younger cousin Kenny.

Incidentally, Kenny's applying to the US Naval Academy. He's got the grades for it and he's a basketball player.

Once he gets ideas of going beyond his current position, he might want to consider pulling a Flake on border security and interior enforcement. Otherwise, he won't be getting my support for any position that has an impact on that issue, like Speaker.

Yeah, he always looks like he hasn't slept for a week or two. But I don't think that necessarily excludes him from the Presidency; in fact, that look tends to eventually happen upon every President nowadays. So perhaps he's more of a natural fit than we suspect.

No, he is not. He is a media-pampered charlatan whose ideas crumble under cursory review.
