Since Republicans here love to claim opebo is representative of your average Democrat, I'd be interested in some numbers.

oh yeah, little statistical fact, 84% of the population is Christian, and 48% voted for Kerry. That means even if every non-Christian voted for Kerry (which we know is not true), 32% of the population are Christians who voted for Kerry. that's 2/3 of Kerry voters. So most Kerry voters clearly do not agree with opebo on religion, despite Republican claims.

1%?  Maybe.  Probably less.  Even the most rabid partisans don't think that all Christians should be thrown to the lions.

I don't claim opebigot as representing all Democrats, but as repesenting the Loony Left of the Democratic Party.  In that respect, I'd say 10%-15% of the electorate or 20%-30% of Kerry's vote.

The problem is that these are the ones that contribute and vote in primaries.

If you are dealing with his bigoted religious view, I'd say about 5% of the electorate or 10% of Kerry's vote.

Opebigot certainly isn't at the center of the electorate or at the center of Kerry's base.

Opebo economically- Not many are living off an expected inheiritance in Thailand, but probably 10% are socialist like him.

Opebo Socially- For the Democrat's sake, I hope very few share his bigoted views on religion and his perverse views on sex.

opebo isn't a socialist.

I was about to say I agree with views on sex, until I remembered some of the porn he's admitted to watching.

Well, he's not very smart, which I guess describes a lot (but not all) of Democrats.

Opebo believes in a 15 dollar minimum wage and massive taxing of the rich. Even Al doesn't believe in a $15 minimum wage.

20=30%? We already established the statistical minimum of non-Christian Kerry voters is 1/3, and we know that's not true, so it has to be below 30%. So to be in that level, almost all non-Christian Kerry voters have to hold the same views he does. Do you honestly believe that?

and you say 10-15% of the electorate, but that's small than the percentage of atheists!

You missed the quote.  Here is what I said:

If you are dealing with his bigoted religious view, I'd say about 5% of the electorate or 10% of Kerry's vote.

I would say about 5% are about as anti religious as he is or 10% of Kerry voters.  As for the his non religious views, 20%-30% of Kerry voters.  That 10% is included in the 20%-30% figure.

Kerry received 89% of the African American vote, many of which are Christians. I'd say 70-80% maybe more I'm not sure. Hispanics don't block vote as much as African Americans anymore, Kerry I believe received 55% of the vote, and they are mostly all Catholic. So there is where I would say the large amount of Christian votes are accounted for Kerry.

White Christians voted heavily for Bush.

Jews, like myself, also vote heavily Democratic.

So do only white people count now?

And this white Christian voted for Kerry. So did plenty more. There's a town north of here called St. Peter. It's very religious. You can almost be sure someone there is in church on Sunday. And it's almost as liberal as Minneapolis. Voted around 60% for Kerry.

btw, the Minnesota Senate Majority leader and thus the leader of the Democratic caucus is an ordained minister.

Yeah, and Bush got some gay black athiest votes. So what? Kerry certainly was very weak amongst white Christians-- extremely, unbelievably weak against those that actually practice (he not only lost the Catholic vote, but he got humiliated when you restrict to the ones that go to Church).

Of course they are. You are very much like opebo, despite being Christian. You agree with each other on basically every political issue, and both of you like to feel superior to the 'religious right' and go around labeling people bigots.

You are bigots.  From Dictionary.com:

"big·ot    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (bgt)
n.
One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[French, from Old French.]
Word History: Bigots may have more in common with God than one might think. Legend has it that Rollo, the first duke of Normandy, refused to kiss the foot of the French king Charles III, uttering the phrase bi got, his borrowing of the assumed Old English equivalent of our expression by God. Although this story is almost surely apocryphal, it is true that bigot was used by the French as a term of abuse for the Normans, but not in a religious sense. Later, however, the word, or very possibly a homonym, was used abusively in French for the Beguines, members of a Roman Catholic lay sisterhood. From the 15th century on Old French bigot meant “an excessively devoted or hypocritical person.” Bigot is first recorded in English in 1598 with the sense “a superstitious hypocrite.”

Interesting, eh?  Sounds to me like the modern GOP.  We call you people bigots because you are bigots, as is clear by your intrusive behaviour on gay marriage, abortion, and nearly every other individual rights issue.

So I take it you don't like the GOP much. Would you say that you are strongly partial towards your politics and are intolerant of the religious right?

Of course, with complete disregard for the facts, you continue to claim that the State not sanctioning gay marriage is intrusive, and in doing so void any bit of logic that could have appeared in your post. Fortunately, none did anyway, so we won't worry about it.

Not at all.  I'm only intolerant of intolerance.

Of course on a personal level I find these religious people disgusting, but I wouldn't dream of interfering in their barbarous rites.  Very different from their interference - with the power of the theocratic State - in the wholesome personal and private activities of homosexuals, pregnant women, and other normal individuals.  I would only feed them to the lions in self defense.

There's only one problem with being intolerant of intolerance. You are intolerant, then, of yourself.
