Um... whether you both like her is immaterial... do you know what she thinks?

Naive feminist! All he must do is convince her parents that he has more land & wealth than his bud, plus royal lineage.

How long have you two been friends? If it's been a while, talk it out with him. If not, then do what you need to do.

Years.  Since middle school.

No idea.  She's easy to talk to, doesn't seem to dislike either of us.  Maybe a little flirty.  But I don't know.

I had a similar discussion with my cousin... who is around your age.

He ended up coming to the conclusion that at his age friends are more important than having a girlfriend. He might like her, but he's like me in that he likes to avoid drama, but it's easier for the time being to let it slide.

We both have pretty slim chances with her.  I've talked to him and we're just going to call it friendly competition.

This is always tough...but I echo Polnut's words. Friendship, no matter what age, is always better than relationships. Bros before hoes, my man.

Welcome to life buddy.

Whether or not people realize it everything is a competition.  Even the availability of mates.
If you aren't in shape, if you aren't a good actor, if you don't write very much poetry, if you don't play guitar............you better be f***ing hilarious.
Also, being two years older helps a lot.  For some reason girls associate an older guy as being more "mature" or what not.  Considering that guys their age typically act like immature retards I guess it makes a little bit of sense.

Because that sensitive bullsh*t doesn't do jack sh*t for women.  No matter what sitcoms and sh*t like that tells you on a daily basis.

Start a terrible rumor about him that'll turn her away from him and towards you.

Neither of you should date her. I'm sorry, but dating somebody that you know your friend also likes, unless it's one of those once-every-hundred-thousand-years world-shaking loves, is just a terrible thing to do to a friend and casts a pall over the new relationship.

My best friend likes the same girl as me!

My best friend likes the same girl as I.  Or so it should read.  "Me" don't like girls; "I" like girls.

Anyway, this happens all the time.  Get over yourself.  There are about 3.4 billion horny guys.  There are maybe a half million rubber-worthy chicks.  You do the math.

I'm in good shape, I'm just not built.  But yeah, you're right.

Like I said, I don't think either of us will.  That's life.

okay, clarence is right.  Pussy is fleeting, but real friendship is worth maintaining.  And don't make King Solomon force you decide, because if it comes down to cutting her in half, one of you will have to step up and be the nice guy and show a willingness to give it up entirely.  (Of course, if you've read the book, you'll know that this is the one who actually gets to tap it later, so if comes down to it, be magnanimous.)
