A worksheet distributed in a social studies class in a Iowa high school is sparking outrage after depicting Capitalism as an "exploitative" system and Communism as not. Even though many(if not most on this forum probably think Communism is a great system).

However, the cartoon in the worksheet appears taken from an old Soviet or Chinese text according to the article.

In all seriousness, this is why I hate the conservative movement sometimes.  In their crusade against a frequently liberal education system, the exploit things even when they aren't biased to try to make their point that the education system is liberal and the terrible communists are indoctrinating our children.  The real shame is that there's outcry from seeing both sides of the debate.  Our education system is so pro-America that we ignore others' perspectives and try to rewrite history.  I'd be interested in seeing the percentage of students who have ever heard of Luna 2 or the theoretical benefits of communism.

Schools shouldn't be politically biased at all.  Though I can't say I'm too outraged, given that American public schools normally give a convoluted, stupid interpretation of communism/socialism.  It's a shame that people really think communism is "authoritarian socialism."

The cartoon doesn't have to represent what a capitalist is saying... it's from a Communist perspective.  But the reading that follows the cartoon is pretty much purely ideals.

Truthfully, communist governments have been very bad, but on principle, the system isn't supposed to be exploitative. Capitalism on the other hand has built in elements that are exploitative. There are deep flaws in all economic theories, as many of the people who practice them have very little integrity.

Communist government is an oxymoron.  Most of the bad communist states in history, like the Soviet Union, have been state-capitalist.
