PRESS RELEASE
Essex, VT
At a campaign rally today held by sitting Northeast Senator Scott (Lib-CT), the Senator was asked by supporters and members of the press to give his input on how the current Atlasian 'remapping' issue should be dealt with. He gave these remarks:
Quote from: Senator Scott (Lib-CT)
Recently, as you all know, our legislators have been discussing what we should do with regards toward the inactivity issue that is currently plaguing the Midwest and Pacific regions. Consequentially, their local governments have made little changes in their past sessions and enthusiasm of the citizens in those regions has been abundantly suppressed. Numerous ideas for how this should be addressed have been tossed around by myself and other active Atlasians. And so today, I would like to make my stance on this perfectly clear.
I am not opposed, on principle, to redrawing the map or making minor changes to regional boundaries for the sake of promoting activity. However, I firmly believe that the longheld borders of our region are significant, and that no matter what map reform is proposed,
they must remain intact.
Our region is home to some of the most prominent citizens of this country, young and old. We are the home to some of the greatest patriots such as Keystone Phil, AndrewPA, Snowstalker, Nathan, President Polnut, and my dear friend, Governor Napoleon. Our region is active, populous, diverse, strong, and has everything that a region needs to be successful and aspirational. And I believe that, for this region, boundary changes are unnecessary.
I will oppose any map plan that seeks to redraw our region or alter voter registration numbers for partisan gain or otherwise.
And this is also why I will not support a plan to revert our map to the Senate districts that we had long ago. In my view, having constant map changes in place will lead to unfair, partisan gerrymanders; this is something that would not benefit our country, whether leftists or conservatives would be in charge of the redistricting process.
And make no mistake. When the questions comes of how our nation's regions should be redrawn, we must take the feelings of those who would be affected by it into account. According to a recent poll, Midwesterners and Pacific citizens are nearly divided on if their regions should be merged into one. The government must put the interests of the citizens first, and should not pursue such a policy unless it is backed with heavy support.
Ultimately, the fate of these two great regions relies on the activism of its citizens. Both the Midwest and the Pacific are immensely appreciated by Atlasians everywhere, and we owe it to this country to promote activity where it is needed. I am conveying my message not only to Northeastern citizens, but to citizens across the board. And so I urge you. Be involved. Be active. Be engaged. Do what you can do to help your region and local community. And to my constituents here at home: when you cast your ballot this June, vote for the candidate who has and will continue to give your best interests a seat at the table.
Dave bless you, Dave bless this region, and Dave bless the Republic of Atlasia! Thank you!

CAMPAIGN STATEMENT
My friends, today finally marks the end of a long and rough campaign. Although this reelection campaign may not have been as feisty as the last election for this seat was, we have witnessed a very bitter and divisive presidential election battle throughout our country.
Before I speak about my campaign and my vision for the road ahead, I would like to reassert my support for several Senate candidates running this cycle- in particular, Sbane in the Pacific, Redalgo in the Midwest, and Ben in the Mideast. These are the names of three truly progressive Atlasians who will advance good reforms and serve as true assets for our movement. Last but not least, I reinforce my support of Napoleon for President of Atlasia. I know that he and soon-to-be Vice President Kalwejt both have what is necessary to stimulate game activity and ensure that we stay on a road to prosperity.
Now, during my four months in the Senate, I have sponsored several pieces of legislation that have been supported by senators from both sides of the aisle, and I am running for reelection so that I may continue this work in a second term. Most recently, I introduced two pieces of legislation that will be debated in the upcoming months; one is a proposal that is based off of a bill written by real-life Congressman Bobby Schilling (R-IL). The 'Saving Over Spending Act of 2012,' as it is named, will encourage federal departments to spend less and to spend wisely. At the end of the fiscal year, 50% of the money saved will automatically be used to pay off the deficit and the remainder will stay in the department to be spent at its discretion. This bill is, I believe, a great way to reduce the deficit without hurting crucial programs and I hope to see it pass with bipartisan support.
The second piece of legislation I have introduced, the 'Care For Homeless Pets Act of 2012,' will assist families whose unfortunate financial circumstances have forced them to disown their pets by subsidizing pet shelters in economically depressed areas of the country. Under the bill, families will have the opportunity to hand temporary ownership of their pets to shelters for three months, and have the option of either reclaiming them or displaying them for adoption over the three-month period. This project will save the lives of thousands of animals that are victims of abandonment, and starting costs for it will be low.
As we move to a new chapter in Atlasia, I hope that citizens of all parties and ideologies will be able to reconcile and mutually welcome in our new president, whoever that might be. It's no question that the campaign over the past couple months has been extremely negative in certain aspects, with people constantly pointing fingers at one another and engaging in needless fights which are detrimental to the spirit of the game. I hope that the hostile environment simmers down as this election season finally concludes so that we may work together to build a free and prosperous country for all Atlasians.
Thank you, and remember to vote tomorrow.

This is certainly turning out to be a more competitive election than expected, but I am happy to see us end the first day of voting with a lead. I hope to see more Northeast voters turn out over the next two days. Voter participation in our region is looking great so far, and I thank those who did today.
Remember, vote for
activity!

Madison Square Garden, NYC
Remarks from the Senator and Liberal Party Chair
Let me say to my constituents, my fellow Liberals, and my fellow Atlasians, that this is one of the most humbling evenings of my life. This Senate race ended up being much more competitive than expected, but nevertheless, you guys pulled through, and I am honored to have the privilege to serve another term as your Senator. I must thank each and every one of you who gave me their first preference for this election- Nathan, Alfred, Cincinnatus, Simfan, among so many others. Thank you.
A few minutes ago, I got off the phone with CJO Belgiansocialist and accepted his concession. We both agreed that the Northeastern citizens have made their decision, and therefore, we will go forward together. And I know that Mr. Belgiansocialist will continue to do his part as our Chief Judicial Officer.
As you know, this election was about much more than just the issues- it was a contest of who the voters believed would contribute more to the region as well as to the game itself, and this weekend we highlighted the importance of having active representatives to help build on what we have. And the activity that is required is not demanded of one region. It is not demanded of one senator. It is demanded of each person who loves this country and desire to see it prosper. And while Mr. Belgiansocialist and I may have had our differences on this particular aspect, it is time that we put aside our differences and work together.
In my second term, I will work with fellow senators and the new administration to tackle issues such as jobs, the federal deficit, and game reform. I will also continue to work with Governor Nix and former Speaker Cincinnatus on getting our wiki to date.
And now, as Liberal Chair, I would like to say a few words on what we have accomplished tonight. Tonight, I am proud to announce that the progressives- both those who are Liberal and who are Labor- have achieved victories across the board. I offer my warmest congratulations to President-elect Napoleon and Vice President-elect Kalwejt. I have known these two in Atlasia for quite some time, and I can assure that both will prove to be efficient and active leaders for our nation. It is truly an honor to be here congratulating these two on what they have achieved.
I would also like to congratulate Senator Sbane in the Pacific and Senator Ben in the Mideast: two pragmatic progressives who will be continuing their service for four more months. Senator Ben, in particular, was faced with an uphill battle at the start of the campaign, but the results show that he has defied the odds.
And lastly, I would like to congratulate newly-elected Senator Redalgo in the Midwest Region. His campaign, in particular, was one of my favorites, and I look forward to working with him in the Senate next month.
Tonight is a great nice for the Liberal Party, indeed- but more importantly, for citizens across Atlasia. Thank you, Dave bless you, and Dave bless this great Republic of Atlasia!
Exit stage,
My Town

He won because he had Whig friends who crossed over out of friendship. He was not the better candidate. I delivered a better vision and was more active than he was. Three of the Gang of Four specifically said so.

He had Whig friends who crossed over because they thought he would do a better job in the Senate. Don't blame your own party members, that's the easiest way to make sure you don't get their vote in the future. Ben has been around for a while, and is a respected member here. Don't pretend he won for any other reason than his qualifications.

Cincinnatus, some of them are in Tmfth's new party now. You are wrong on the theory of him winning based of his qualifications. It was based off friendship and I was told that.
