The Romney's are indeed a compassionate family.

Mitt Romney, one of Santorum's rivals in the presidential race, also said that he and his wife, Ann, were praying for the Santorums.

"Ann and I send prayers and best wishes for Bella's good health to Rick and Karen Santorum and their entire family," Mitt Romney tweeted.

The Romneys have done a hell of a lot of volunteer work over the decades that people will hear about sooner or later, probably shortly after Obama and Co. try to heavily paint the narrative of him as a greedy SOB who cares about nobody other than himself. That strategy is going to severely backfire on them.

So these days wishing the best for a sick 3 year old is considered some great show of compassion instead of basic human decency? Though I guess for the mittbot this is a great feat?

This is an act of human decency and compassion.

You are simply afraid to admit that Mitt Romney shows compassion for his fellow human beings in their time of need.

"Fellow" human beings is a bit of a stretch, Winfield.

This must have taken a hell of a lot of effort on his part to summon up the appearance of a soul, so I'll give him that.

Why wouldn't he show compassion for a 3 year old with a terminal disease? This would not be worthy of discussion unless the person in question were some sort of a heartless, soulless robot like creature......

I don't really know where to begin.  This was a tweet?  Probably written by a staffer Mitt Romney may or may not have met, possibly approved by a staffer Mitt Romney regularly talks to.  Also, I'm pretty sure that refusing to express sympathy for someone's sick kid is a sign that they're complete political idiots, and not just the litmus test for compassion.

I doubt this tweet could have much less to do with Mitt Romney, whether or not he's compassionate.

I think Mittens does have a problem feeling empathy. It's a fair point. If you feel empathy, it affects how you phrase things, without thinking about it. If you don't, you have to think about it, or you will sound, well, cold. Underneath my veneer, I am a rather passionate person who does feel such things, and I hope that leaches through my texts from time to time. Mittens was not wired that way.

Mittens has his weaknesses, of which I have known for a long time, including the robotic bit. I still support him for reasons I hope I have elucidated. We all weight matters differently, and sometimes reach different conclusions, even if not all that far apart ideologically.

Mitt Romney is out for a drive, sees a dead squirrel on the side of the road and thinks to himself, "Aww."

Mitt Romney seems to be the walking demonstration that there's a clear difference between empathy and sympathy.

Do you expect him to publicly wish her harm?

Is this a joke?  This kind of stuff is so contrived.  Personally if I said a prayer for Santorums little girl I would just call him up personally and give him and his family my best wishes.

Even a completely heartless maniac could focus group this maneuver and then decide to make a public display of "praying for her."

They feel sad about a dying little girl? This must make them amazing human beings. Nobody cares about dying little girls.

I think it's time we all just accept that Winfield and Politico are parody posters and move on.

And just who are you to be questioning the Romney motives for expressing their concern and offering their prayers in behalf of the Santorum family?

The Romneys are deeply religious and if they want to offer their prayers for another family in need, they can do so without being second guessed by cynical individuals.

I think it's time we all just accept that Keystone Phil and Rick Santorum have different bodies but share the same brain and move on.

We are not a parody. Never. Let. Up.

We are the Republican Party. (Well, I'm a DINO, a disillusioned Democrat, but Winfield is the Republican Party)

Romney simply uploaded a compassion file into his software. As soon as it was finished the programmer he hired was laid off and replaced with a more incompetent one.

Who are you to go on the internet and impose your interpretation of the events on everyone else.  You have your opinion and the rest of humanity has theirs.  Given Romney's history and the fact they are engaged in a bruising political fight it would be irresponsible to not even consider the possibility this was contrived.

When it comes to showing compassion for others, one should not question the motives, one should only accept the virtue.
