Quote
Ames Republican A.J. Spiker is the new chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa, according to members of the state GOP central committee.
Spiker is a real estate agent and a central committee member. He’s well known for his strong backing of presidential candidate Ron Paul.
The previous GOP chairman, Matt Strawn, resigned Friday.
The 17-member state central committee voted 9-8 today to elect Spiker. Others vying for the post were state GOP co-chairman Bill Schickel and Polk GOP co-chair Dave Funk.
This should mean the good guys will have an advantage when the delegate selection takes place.
(State chair is also a superdelegate).

Yessssssssssssssssssss
Hopefully they are able to push through some incredibly anti-democratic pro-Paul slates at the convention.

Too bad they didn't take over prior to The Old Guard throwing his caucus votes into the Mississippi.

That always has been Paul's long term goal, anyway.
The GOP state apparatus has been slowly shifting in his direction, in some cases quite a bit farther than others (Maine and New Hampshire in particular were overrun by his cohorts, and Nevada nominated Angle because of a desire for revenge against Lowden)
I doubt those 24 delegates will make a world of difference, though

Oh yeah. You know the ultraconservative contingent will spin this as some radical subversion of democracy. Oh well, that's the price of progress.
