Heres a interesting compromise candidate-------General Petraeus.

The problem is that he's serving under Obama in an administrative capacity if anything more directly than Huntsman was as ambassador.
I would think most Americans would shrug it off, seeing as he is in (or was in) the military no matter who is President.

I considered Patraeus, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, Jim DeMint and Scott Walker as other compromise candidates Wink

Chris Christie shouldn't be shrugged off.

Still, Mike Huckabee might be the most palatable to the base.

I would hope so, but I'm not so sure.

DeMint would be acceptable to the base.

Here is another curveball suggestion: David Walker.

Wait, they all abandoned their candidates? Or is this a pre convention rumor?

Daniels spoke at the GOP convention the previous day and proclaimed that he would accept the party's nomination.

However, this headline is just a rumor...for now Wink

Out of curiosity, will your update contain the actual convention balloting?

Im the opposite. Only Christie or Mitch Daniels can replace Paul as my candidate, and even those two are highly unlikely to sway me.

-Campaigning yadda yadda yadda-

November 6th 2012

Breaking News: Mitch Daniels has won the 2012 Presidential Election
Governor Mitch Daniels (R-IN)/Governor Susana Martinez (R-NM) - 271
President Barack Obama (D-IL)/Vice President Joe Biden (D-DE) - 267

"Tonight, we toppled the establishment. Tonight, America proved that it will not allow a President to continue to implement failed policy after failed police. Four years of faulty "hope" and faux "change" are over. America will finally be viewed as a world superpower once again. I would like to thank everyone who voted for real change tonight. I am honored to have received your votes and I am honored to have been chosen as President of the United States of America. Thank you all!" - President-elect Mitch Daniels

"Clearly America is fed up with the failed policies of the Obama Administration. I am proud to say I will be the first female Vice President ever. It's truly an honor." - Vice President-elect Susana Martinez
