I came to the conclusion that I did when I was fairly young, but I've never been diagnosed. To the extent that I do, I think it's pretty mild though - and I also think I've overcome it to a large extent by now.

I'm pretty much the opposite of this.

I'm too shy to go to a doctor to find out.

No, but I have a cousin to Aspergers/Autism.  Tourette's Syndrome.  I was diagnosed at age 11, however, with God's help I have been able to overcome it for the most part.

Everyone on the internet has Asperger's. As does everyone even halfway interesting from the past. As everyone is on the internet now and as everyone from the past was at least halfway interesting, this must mean that everyone who has ever lived has had Asperger's.

Very true Al. Everyone semi-interesting from history is also gay and, bizarrely, left-handed.

Yes. Diagnosed at 12, helped out by my mother who is a behavioural support teacher. Basically overcame or learned to compensate most of the 'difficult' traits but still have the useful ones.

I'm an atheist (or should that be heretic?) on Asperger. I supposedly have it but I doubt it even exists (I certainly know people that supposedly have it and have something else. But talking about that more would send me into autorant. And you don't want to send me into autorant).

I'm not sure as I've never quite understood what it is.  "Significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests" sounds like everyone I've ever met.

The clumsiness and atypical use of language is sometimes me, I guess.  I've mostly attributed that to my my undiagnosed ADHD.

I'm going to say I don't have it.

Well, usually true Aspergers is a rather acute case where a person has severe difficulty in social situations.... like can only touch hands with his mother because he completely freaks out if his mom hugs him.  And by repetitive and restricted... they mean people obsessed completely with one subject.  Like spends their entire waking life analyzing patterns in numbers in literally everything to the exclusion of everything else.. including things like being able to tie their own shoes or keep good hygiene.

Read "A Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night" to get a good handle on what actual Aspergers is like... and compare to the slightly socially awkward nerds that inhabit the internet who use "Aspergers" as an excuse.

I am tempted to agree with what Snowguy and, to a lesser extent, Gully Foyle posted. Selfdiagnosed Asperger must be among the worst things the internet has too much of. And I'm quietly convinced mental disorders are severely overdiagnosed even in clinical environments, anyway.

I look forward to the day when they come up with some sort of Normality Disorder for people who act too par for the course.

Mostly agree with Snowguy. I'd like to ask if it's "normal" to not have any traits at all associated with Asperger's. I mean how many people don't have some type of weird niche interest? Anyone who is completely free of any traits associated with Asperger's is probably a pretty boring person all around.

I don't see why anyone would want to have Asperger's. I don't feel like I'm a better person for having it, and while I'm not sad about it, some aspects of my social life really depress me (and no, it's not like being "the usual awkward guy").
