Finding someone as good as homely will be tough. Someone who not only possesses great knowledge of the laws and election methods, but is also fair and active, is a tough combination to find.

Thanks for your dedication to the post for four (?) years!

Thanks to all for your kind words.

We currently have four candidates for this weekend's At-Large Senate election: NCYankee, Altsomn Stmarken, Cris and Harry S Truman. The declaration deadline is exactly five hours from now.

Mr. Secretary,

The Federalist bylaws limit the party to just two candidates in an At-Large General election. However, all such candidates had to declare prior to the Friday before the election in order to contest for one of the two slots.

As I posted two days ago: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=220772.msg4820502#msg4820502

The nominated Federalist candidates are NC Yankee and Altsomn J. Stmarken.

Thanks;
NC Yankee,
Federalist Party Chairman.

I seem to recall you counting ballots without numbers before, if intent could be reasonably determined. Is that not the case?

Anyway, it doesn't change the results apparently. I am going to miss you being SoFE! Sad

If the question is about putting numbers before names of candidates, I have found this on the wiki. (I don't know if there has been a change since then))

Section 1: Votes
1. In their vote in the Elections to the Senate and the Presidency, each voter shall list some, none, or all of the candidates in the voter's order of preference for them.
2. If no numbering of the preferences is stated, then the candidate at the top of the list shall be presumed to be the first preference, the candidate on the second line of the list shall be presumed to be the second preference, and so on.

I think that's wrong. Why should I make any presumption as to what a voter means? The voter himself should make it clear who he's voting for and in what order. The SoFE should be concerned with arithmetic and mathematics, not semiotics.

I suppose that if I wanted to continue with this job long enough, someone would call me out on breaking and ignoring rules (à la Inks when I was RG) and then I'd rage quit anyway. Better to go out with some semblance of dignity.

I will put them on the ballot. This is the way I've always done it and it's what people expect: inclusion over exclusion.

Had I not done that, Yankee, there would have been four candidates on the ballot in a contest for five seats.
