This seems like something out of "A HandMaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood. That book took place as demographic, ecological, social, economical and political decline created an environment where Christianist Jihadis from inside the military systematically 66'd Congress and created the Republic of Gilead, where the state micromanaged all the nation's spiritual, genetic and cultural processes. Eventually, there were armed uprisings by moderates and liberals and that eventually resulted in placing Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, Sterile Females, Homosexuals, Jews, Muslims, Seculars, Christian Heretics, the Mentally Retarded, Liberals and "Moderates" into "colonies" in the empty quarter of our country...namely for extermination or to work in toxic and nuclear waste facilities.

In a Epologue of the story, it was implied that the revolutionaries eventually won and created a politically fragmented and Multicultural world from the death throes of a dying nation.

This actually reminds me of an article I read in the onion the other day.

Ehhh...that's no fun. It would be cool to have it be more complicated than a cut and dry war of succesion or coup. Perhaps there are suceeding states that are trying to restablish a new federal Goverment and perhaps there are various factions  at both the federal and state level. Perhaps there is an Occupier hipster militia at the Federal Level a string of both conservative and liberal succesor political entities and perhaps some tactical nukes are used. Basically think Shattered Union...but that its not just happening here.

I could think of four factions of the top of my head-

The Allied States of America- Conservative Anti-Palin succesor states in the Great Plains and upper South that are supported by desserting unpaid military elements.

The Occupy Wall Street Movement- Various Celebrities, Military and Business Leader and charismatic Left-Wing Politicians aligned themselves with a few Northeastern and Western States and cities to create a paralell nation. (State of Vermont, City of Salt Lake and the Free Republic of Cascadia were amongst the original members)

The Tea Party - Another group of economic and social NGOs that form a paralell patchwork across the nation to essential abolish the Federal Government and vest all powers in the remaining states or in various religious or economic institutions.

The Federal Government (Those loyal to Presidient Palin).

Were trying to nitpick at it just like when the boys on South Park tried to make the most lewd novel of all time and when it became popular, people tried to think of it in any way they could when it was just 4 9 year old boys trying to have a dare.

It would be interesting to see if this goes a regular political timeline or if there is a war or something in between.

It would be cool to see the new maps and the death tolls and whatnot. It would be cool if this became a nuclear civil war with ICBMs launched from liberal California at that Palin Administration.

Perhaps with the weakening military, the drug lords will start to take over Arizona and Texas and perhaps the Lakotah and the Navajo nations will sever ties with the US and then when it appears that Palin still narrowly won after the country started to slowly to disintergrate perhaps then is when the waves of succesion starts to speed up.

Well, it could end pretty anticlimatically. Palin might be shot and the VP might resign and then Boehner will run and lose. Tongue

Like what happens after this, I wonder? What happens with Palin? What happens with the rest of the world?

I always wonder how movies would be effected by all this lol. how does it effect movies?

Substantially less films being produced and distributed, the market isn't there anymore. I had a thing on Conan a few pages back and how he's living in seclusion pretty much.

I wonder what's going to happen between Jane's Fighters, the Palin Administration and General Xander....and of course, similiar things might be going on overseas. I'm surprised there isn't the resurrection of the Reich or Soviet Union or some other combination of Right-Wing or Left-Wing regimes rolling across the world. This could actually be an interesting precursor to WWIII where most, if not all, sovreign nations are destroyed and replaced by various right-wing (Islamists in Asia, White Supremicists in Europe, Dominionists in the The Americas) and various Communists/Socialists and Anarchists throughout much of the more populated parts of the West Coast, Northeast, Europe and East Asia...sort of think of 1984, but a politically more polarized world between left and right..or this could be the precursor to a large nuclear war that causes the Controllers to take reins in the Ford Wars (Brave New World).

I wonder what's happening elsewhere. I bet the Scottish, Flemmish Basque, and the various Italian and German city states are vying for autonomy at this point...and I bet there's a renewed Cvil War in China and Korea and there's various warlords in the Middle East and India. I'm amazed no one has brought out the big bombs..

I wonder how the AFA will do. That's what it really could come down to. What's left the AFA against what's left of California. I wonder why the US hasn't been invaded yet.

What's left of the Industrial world might want to preserve their "strategic interests".

...though I am pretty sure that Mexico (in fact all of Latin America) has fallen to a patchwork of socialist "Pueblos", Catholic and Pentacostal "Missions" , military juntas and drug rings and that most of the major cities in Canada are pretty much abandonned and all that's left there are a few frontier towns, the French and the oil cartels out west. Maybe Jane's Fighters will ally with the former while the AFA or USA allies with the latter.

...and I wonder if Israel has expanded any int Jordan, Lebannon or Syria or if the Kurds have any more indepedence..and again, I don't think most major nations in Europe exist anymore and they have more or less become city states and cantons.

..perhaps all of Europe. Like I said, this is like the perfect opportunity for oppressed groups to win more independence. Kurds, Tibetans, Ughurs, Celts, Basques and various other minorities seem proned to gain.
