Tweedist National Convention - Huntington Station, New York

I would like to thank La Bodega Hispana of New York Avenue for its grace in hosting and catering this momentous event.
we congregate today because all other options have failed. there is no longer anything here worth attaching to; nothing quite worth that shut-in Saturday night of AIM politicking that once made it all happen. now, all that is exists is a rehearsed showboating that would make the Kennedys during a photoshoot squirm and blush.
"even Christ himself would Cringe at the sight of your scars." this is where we find ourselves today. the rough itinerary for this weeklong event will be posted shortly.

A bodega? I feel bad for you guys. Should I reserve some space in the public library?

I haven't read the article, but I firmly support Simfan's efforts to blame Lena Dunham for our society's rot.

...and of course it isn't as simple as that; what needs to be done, and I know this is what binds us, comrades, what needs to be done isn't just a simple re-infusing of the game that's Atlasia with 'passion' and 'life', but a transformation of that game. We use the rhetoric of a restoration to past glory, but our vision of Atlasia is one of an Atlasia that hasn't yet been been, coloured by nostalgic sentiment only in as far as we're nostalgic for the future. We want a return not to what was, nor to the hope that we then might have been able to feel, but to a state before all hope and before all disappointment: a state of acceptance of things as they are, as fragile as any such acceptance always necessarily must be.
Atlasia must become
as it is
, no longer a reproduction of some 'real-world' 'realities', but transcending the banal level of US politics, a real community with no goals beyond itself, with no aspirations extending beyond it's own core, without imported causes and dividing lines, but accepting whatever conditions the community itself imposes on it. We should ban such notions as 'liberal' and 'conservative', or even 'socialist'. We are all Atlasians now, and while this might be taken as a call to unity, that's most decisively what it's not. We must allow the community to resonate with the creative power of division and tension, yet we must also make sure these are real divisions. No movement has been a greater inspiration than that of 'loonyism' in all of its various hues, and it's not coincidental that one of its great monuments, Lewis Trondheim, should feel a natural attraction to our movement.
Yet Tweedism is not a loonyism, it itself is a transformation of what came before. It itself is one of the instruments towards its own goal, a unification of means and ends in the same social body. It's a provisional demarcation line in the community, a line as of yet not clearly drawn, not clear in what lines it does converge with, what allies it may find, but very clear in this one thing: that
those who are not with us, are against us
.

I thank the soon-to-be-Senator-and-more for his remarks.
I'll be preparing a statement in one fashion or another before the election.

Congratulations on your forthcoming election Young Tweed. I would love to get your second preferences as a consolation prize.
